Introduction

This directory provides a snapshot summary of local information put together to provide older people and their families with a flavour of the type and location of services that are available to older people locally, covering a range of needs. It is by no means exhaustive.

None of these services have been vetted by the Borough Council, and inclusion of services on the list does not constitute a recommendation. It is highly recommended that families and services users find out more about available services in order to assess whether they are suitable for the individual concerned.

Carers Trust East Midlands provides sitting services in partnership with Northamptonshire Carers and Carers Emergency and Planned Breaks sitting service.

Breathing Space is aimed at people diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and their unpaid carers to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing. Fortnightly meetings are held in Daventry, Northampton and Corby providing opportunities to share experiences and engage in social, fun activities.

There is access to clinical advice from a GP or specialist nurse as well as sessions on relaxation, self-management, healthy eating advice, exercise and practical advice.

Glamis Hall for All Day Centre for the over 50s is open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 3pm, excluding Bank Holidays. Transport is available via the Wellibus or Glamis Hall’s own accessible transport within the Borough of Wellingborough.
