Welcome to the 13th Annual Willamette Volleyball Classic 2019

The WVC remains one of the premier club volleyball tournaments in the Northwest, annually drawing approximately 200 teams to the Corvallis community for a weekend full of great competition and great fun.

This tournament’s unique. And it’s unique by design. The organizers never wanted it to be like those massive qualifiers with courts spread out in a major convention center for as far as the eye can see. That was never the goal. The goal here was to create an event that combined great volleyball with a fun, positive environment, while offering participants and fans things they can’t find anywhere else. Needless to say, the goal has been met. What other tournament offers a Queen of the Court event on Friday night where teams dress in costume? What other tournament brings in a DJ to play music for the whole event? How about the Mother’s Day theme, and the initiatives behind that?

The organizers of this event are extremely passionate about it. We believe that shows through by putting on a quality event. We hope that our event can meet or exceed your expectations in every way possible.

Enjoy your weekend in the Willamette Valley.

Schedule is subject to change. Four team pools would follow a different format and thus be on a different timeline. Final times will be posted the week of the tournament.

Format of the Tournament

Friday – Queen of the Court Age groups participating in the QOC will play 6-on-6 matches for 8 minutes each, with 2 minutes in between rounds. Points are initiated with a serve, and there is free substitution. The goal is to move up to the highest court. Lowest tournament seeds will start on the highest courts, and the highest tournament seeds will start on the lowest courts.

A win on the highest court is worth 3 team points. A win on any other court is worth 1 team point. If an age group is separated into two pools, the winners of the two pools will face each other at the end of the night for the division championship.

**QOC final schedule will be posted at http://www.willamettevolleyballclassic.com

Saturday – Pool Play All teams will participate in two separate three-team pools on Saturday – one in the morning wave, one in the afternoon wave. Two age divisions will play in each wave. There are four waves total on Saturday – each team will play in two of these waves.

In general, each group of 18 teams in the same age division are snake-seeded for the morning wave of pools. Results from the morning waves will determine seeds in the afternoon. If a lower-seeded team finishes above a higher-seeded team in pool play, that team will take over the higher-seed.

The same process will be used to determine seeds following the afternoon pools – those seeds will be teams’ seeds for bracket play on Sunday.

All pool play matches will be best 2-of-3 sets, first two to 25, third to 15, no caps.

Sunday – Bracket Play For the most part, teams will be grouped in 6-team brackets. All brackets will be double elimination, and each team will play at least two matches in bracket play. In a 6-team bracket, the top two seeds will receive byes in the first round, but will be expected to officiate the first-round matches.

Consolation matches will be best 2-of-3 sets, with all sets played to 15 points. All other matches will be formatted the same as pool play.

Warm-Ups The first matches of AM wave pool play (Saturday) will have a 10-minute shared warm-up time. All matches after that will implement a standard USAV warm-up. The first matches of each bracket on Sunday will also have a 10-minute shared warm-up time.
