This is because of depth perception our brains automatically process. Now take something to measure them, and you'll realize they are exactly the same. A face presenting Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair (High Spatial Frequency) has been displayed in 1998 in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh. If you squint, blink or defocus while looking at the pictures, Margaret Thatcher should substitute for Tony Blair (if this demonstration does not work, step back from the pictures until your percepts change). The inversion effect is more striking on the right than the left version of the Thatcher-Blair illusion, where the face of Margaret Thatcher blends in the background. Iron Chef America Iron Chef America is a show where the best chefs in America compete against one of five really good chefs known as Iron Chefs. The battle is laid out like this: In the beginning, the chef will walk in, and choose which Iron Chef he will compete with. Next, The chairman will reveal the secret ingredient. The secret ingredient could be anything. One time it was live catfish. Once the chairman says begin in another language, which I believe is Japanese, the battle begins. Each chef has one hour to prepare five dishes, using the secret ingredient. When the chefs cook, it gets exciting. They do all sorts of stuff like grill a pepper with their bare hands, or bring out all sorts of fancy, and expensive food. After the cooking is over, it is down to three judges to see who will win the battle. There are three judges. Some are famous cooks or cookbook writers, and others are celebrities. They taste both of the chef’s foods and decide. Finally, they give their scores to the chairman, and the chairman announces the winner.
