The Commodores will face nationally ranked Florida in Gainesville. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. • The Commodores are looking for their 11th victory against Florida. The Gators have won the last five meetings since Vanderbilt captured a 34-17 victory in Gainesville in 2013. • The Gators are Vanderbilt’s fourth ranked opponent this season, joining No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 LSU and No. 22 Missouri. • Ke’Shawn Vaughn (R-Sr., RB) has entered Vanderbilt’s all-time top 10 for rushing touchdowns, rushing yards and 100+ rushing games in just 20 appearances. Vaughn rushed for a team-high 87 yards on 20 carries at South Carolina on Nov. 2. He ranks tied for fourth in rushing touchdowns (18), tied for fourth in 100+ rushing games (8) and ninth in rushing yards (2,034). Vaughn is averaging 98.8 yards/game, third among SEC running backs. He ranks 12th among active NCAA backs with 3,058 career rushing yards. • The Commodores are looking for post their first SEC win on the road since defeating Arkansas 45-31 on Oct. 27, 2018. • Fifteen student-athletes have earned their first collegiate starts for the Commodores this season: BJ Anderson (R-Fr., CB), Daevion Davis (Fr., DT), Dan Dawkins (R-Fr., OG), Mo Hasan (R-Jr., QB), Brendon Harris (R-Fr., safety), Randall Haynie (R-So., CB), Kenny Hebert (R-Jr., OLB), Dashaun Jerkins (R-Fr., safety), Cam Johnson (R-Fr., WR), Jaylen Mahoney (Fr., CB), Sean McMoore (R-Jr., C), Grant Miller (R-So., C), Harrison Smith (R-Fr., punter), Tyler Steen (R-Fr., OT) and Jonathan Stewart (R-So., OT). Four more were first-time starters in a Vanderbilt uniform: Riley Neal (Gr., QB), Justice Shelton- Mosley (Gr., WR), Cam Watkins (Gr., CB) and DC Williams (Jr., CB). • For the third consecutive week, Vanderbilt’s starting defense at South Carolina did not include a senior. Linebacker Caleb Peart is the only senior among Vanderbilt’s top dozen tacklers. • Kickers Ryley Guay (Sr.) and Javan Rice (R-Fr.) have been nearly perfect hitting through the uprights this season, converting on eight of nine field goal attempts and all 10 extra point attempts. •.Thirteen Commodores hail from Florida -- James Bostic (R-So., WR, Fort Lauderdale), Frank Coppet (R-Jr., S, Fort Lauderdale), Mo Hasan (R-Jr., QB, Miami), Randall Haynie (R-So., CB, Fort Lauderdale), Julian Hernandez (Fr., OL, Davie), Ja’Veon Marlow (R-Fr., RB, Winter Haven), Grant Miller (R-So., C, Fort Lauderdale), Lashawn Paulino-Bell (Jr., OLB, Fort Lauderdale), Javan Rice (R-Fr., K, Miami), Tyler Steen (R-Fr., OL, Miami), Jamauri Wakefield (R-Jr., RB, Jacksonville), DC Williams (Jr., CB, Miami) and Max Worship (So., S, Fort Lauderdale). • Gerry Gdowski moved into the offensive coordinator role for the Dores this year. Gdowski is the longest-tenured Vanderbilt assistant, having been on campus since Derek Mason’s first year in 2014. For the last three years, Gdowski served as quarterbacks coach, helping mold three-year starter and current Kansas City QB Kyle Shurmur into the Commodores’ all-time leading passer. • Four coaches are new to Derek Mason’s staff: Devin “Fitz” Fitzsimmons, Jovan Haye, Tim Horton and Matt Weikert. Fitzsimmons serves as tight ends coach and special teams coordinator. Haye enters his first year as defensive line coach. Horton comes to the staff as running backs coach after extremely successful SEC tenures. Weikert serves as outside linebackers coach, coming from an 12-year tenure at Air Force. • An 82-hour fundraiser for Turner’s Heroes that started at kickoff of the Vanderbilt-LSU game in mid-September surpassed its goal of $50,000 early in the contest. The non-profit was founded this summer by Vanderbilt senior tight end Cody Markel to honor the legacy of former teammate and classmate Turner Cockrell. The money will fund a discovery grant focused on innovative pediatric cancer research in honor of Cockrell, who passed away Nov. 29, 2018, after a lengthy battle with melanoma. Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason and his wife, LeighAnne, committed $25,000 to the effort. Haye was an All-SEC defensive end during his Vanderbilt playing career from 2002-04.
