j HIS BOOKLET of informa- tion regarding Golf is pub- lished to convey to lovers of this ideal sport some definite information regarding the various links on Long Island, reached by the Long Island Railroad. The proximity of Long Island to New York, and the natural attractiveness of its golf courses make this beautiful island the favorite and most delightful territory in which to enjoy this popular out-door game. There are within easy reach of the metrop- olis fully a dozen courses, each of which has its special merits, and some of which are virtually unsurpassed outside of Scotland. The Garden City ranks among the very first in the United States. The Salisbury links are also located at Garden City. Besides the famous Nassau links, on the ideal hills of the North Shore, and the Garden City links, on the rolling plains at Garden City, the National Golf Association has recently selected the strangely beautiful Shinnecock Hills for the official National Golf Club, in addition to the links now in use there. The sweet cool breeze from the ocean that daily sweeps the Island through the heated term gives a strength and accuracy to the player's arm and eye that is impossible on the inland greens. If one is fond of golf, and wishes to enjoy the game under the best conditions—climate, links and congenial company considered- there is no place that surpasses Long Island.
