 Thailand today crossed 1 million positive cases for Covid-19 after today’s positive numbers was at 19,851 with 240 deaths.

 2014 coup leader Prayut Chan-o-cha, who has been working from home through this pandemic, has finally decided to come out of hibernation and go visit hospital.

 General Prayut has been criticized for his WFH tactic while the country suffers and this issue was raised by former Prime Minister who gave his example of him going out to eat chicken when the bird flu outbreak happpend during his tenure as Prime Minister.

 Prayut, yesterday for the 1st time went to Chulalongkorn Hospital to look at ways it is handling the patients especially Home Isolation

 He looked at how the hospital has expanded its parking lot to expand its facilities

 He said that wants to know which hospitals doe not accept patients and why

 That every hospital has to find ways to accommodate patients.

 Meanwhile the subpar antigen test kit – LEPU, importer in Thailand, Ostland, has sent a letter to Prayut to explain things.

 Meanwhile there are talks that a coalition partner has threatened to withdraw the support to the Phalang Pracharat party.

 Prayut had said in Cabinet that only ATK test kits that are approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) would be imported into Thailand.

 Meanwhile Siriraj Hospital starts to take registration for Pfizer for pregnant women and 12-18 years of age children with 7-underlying conditions starting today.

 The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has been coming out to explain its continued insistence that it will procure 12 million doses of SinoVac.

 The MoPH has been on the defensive for the procurement as the country has been dead against the subpar vaccine.

 Doctors have come out to say that it is a waste

 This comes as countries such as Malaysia, which has relied heavily on SinoVac as well, has declared that it would not use SinoVac and has 14 million doses in its stockpile.

 Pfizer per dose is 568.6 baht while SinoVac is at 542.50 baht

 The inoculation at Central that saw people inoculated on June 7th and had appointment on September 27th now will get their 2nd dose on August 30th instead.

 Prapapim Sakuntapai, the mother-in-law of Abhisit Vejjajiva, former prime minister, died of COVID-19 on August 18 at Chakri Naruebodin Hospital.

Inoculation Drive

 After months of dismal vaccination the number of inoculation reached a decent number with 548,311 doses administered.

 The inoculation drive so far this month has been as follows

 The need to inoculate remains 558,167 doses per day until the end of the year to achieve the 100 million doses that the country has set.

 In yet another move that could be useful for those who are bed ridden, has come out to say that it would offer inoculation to those who are unable to move out of their room, by having vaccines delivered to their houses.

 Pongsakorn Kwanmuang, came out to post on his social media that those who cannot move can have someone in the family use the QR code and register or have someone register, and the BMA will come all the way to vaccinate you at your house

 The Ministry of Finance has said that it would propose to extend the Value Added Taxes (VAT) for another year at 7% and would not raise it to 10%.

 The VAT has remained at 7% ever since it was put in place after the 1997 financial crisis.

 Minister of Finance, Arkhom Termpittayapaisith talked about the plans proposed by the Governor of Bank of Thailand (BoT) that suggested that the government should borrow an additional 1 trillion baht to revive the Thai economy from the impact of the pandemic.

 He said that he has not talked to each other yet, because there is still money from the Royal Decree to borrow 500 billion baht loan and it is still enough to help revive the economy from its current covid situation.

 TU also plans to take Thai Union Feed Mill Plc (TFM), which is a subsidiary. animal feed business to be listed in the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) within this year with a registered capital of 1 billion baht.

 KTBST Securities Public Company Limited assesses the operating results of TU in 2021 will have a revenue of 136 billion baht, a profit of 7.29 billion baht, while in 2022, there will be a revenue of 141 billion baht and a profit of 7.28 billion baht.

 There may not be a bigger political news than the fact that the leader of the Progressive Movement leader – Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, has left the country for possibly France.

 Soon after he left the country on August 18th the Royal Thai Police has sent him a summon for breach of article 112.

 Thanathorn and his family were seen heading out of Thailand on August 18th but on August 19th there were summons for him for something that Thanathorn says he does not know what it is about, presumably for his criticism of the vaccine procurement in January of this year.

 Thanathorn came out to say that he is not going to ‘run away’ and that he would come back into the country to hear the charges.

 Thanathorn will participate in a trail running competition called "Ultra Trail du Montblanc" in France. Between 23-29 August and this team ‘True South Thailand’ would pass through Frane, Italy and Switzerland of the Montblanc mountains.

 Meanwhile Move Forward party’s leader Pita Limcharoenrat talked about the reduction in the Ministry of Finance's budget 10.95 billion baht in the Myawaddy City Development Project Myanmar has a coup problem in the country. because it is helping the Myanmar military government.
