KENT COUNTY COUNCIL Various Roads, Swale (Surface Treatments) (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & 20 AND 40 MPH SPEED LIMITS)​ THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2021

To allow carriageway patching and preservation works to be carried out, County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on various roads in Swale.

This Order takes effect on or after 9th March 2021 for a period of up to 18 months or until works have been completed. It may be necessary for some of the roads to be closed for up to three occasions for each phase of the works. Planned dates will be published in advanced of the works on One.Network and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before they start.

After the Surface Treatment works, a temporary speed limit of 20 mph may need to be imposed in place on certain roads for a period of up to 7 days. Where the 20 mph Speed Limit does apply, this will be clearly indicated by relevant signs displayed on site.

These works are subject to weather and other factors which may potentially cause changes at short notice; every effort will be made to keep as close as possible to the planned dates that are notified, and any changes will be publicised.

SCHEDULE

Road closure

Head Hill Road, Seasalter Road, & Road, Seasalter (Canterbury District)

The road will be closed from outside the Sportsman Pub on Faversham Road to the junction with Whitstable Road.

For closures between Monkshill Road and The Sportsman pub the diversion is as follows -

The alternative route for all traffic is via Seasalter Road, Head Hill Road, Whitstable Road, (or Staple Street and Staple Street Road in reverse), A299 Thanet Way, Whitstable off-slip, A2990 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill, Joy Lane, Faversham Road and vice versa.

For closures between the junctions with Whitstable Road and Monkshill Road the diversions are as follows -

The alternative route for through traffic under 11’ 6”/3.5m is via Head Hill Road, Whitstable Road, or Staple Street and Staple Street Road, A299 Thanet Way, Thanet Way Slip Way, A2990 Thanet Way, Borstal Hill, Joy Lane, Faversham Road and Seasalter Road and vice versa.

The alternative route for through traffic over 11’ 6”/3.5m (avoiding the low bridge on Faversham Road) is via Head Hill Road, Whitstable Road, A299 Thanet Way, High Street Road (A299 overbridge and Dargate on-slip in reverse), Monkshill Road and Seasalter Road.

Parsonage Stocks Road, Faversham

The road will be closed between the junctions with Old Badgins Road and Bags Hill Road.

The alternative route is via Old Badgins Road, A251 Faversham Road, Bags Hill Road and vice versa.

Hickmans Green (Horselees)

The road will be closed from Thunderhill Business Estate to the junction with Snake Lane.

The alternative route is via Dunkirk Road, South Street, Nine Ash Lane, Canterbury Road, The Street, Horselees Road and vice versa.

Hearts Delight Road, Tunstall

The road will be closed between the junctions with Wrens Road and Road.

The alternative route is via Borden Lane, A2 London Road, A2 East Street, Church Street, Cromer Road, Tunstall Road and vice versa.

Scotts Lane,

The road will be closed between the junctions with Hansletts Lane and Road.

The alternative route is via Hansletts Lane, Painters Forstal Road, Eastling Road and vice versa.

Crouch Street, Selling

The road will be closed between the junctions with Selling Road and South Street.

The alternative route is via South Street, Fox Lane, Selling Road and vice versa.

South Street, Dunkirk

The road will be closed between the junctions with Crouch Lane and Nine Ash Lane.

The alternative route is via Crouch Lane, Selling Road, Brenley Lane and vice versa.

Cleve Hill, Graveney

The road will be closed from the junction with Head Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure.

Breach Lane,

The road will be closed from the junction with Landrail Road to outside Home Farm.

The alternative route is via The Street, Holywell Lane and vice versa.

Speed Restrictions

A temporary 20 mph compulsory speed limit will be imposed on the roads below, to the extent indicated.

The 20 mph speed limit applies during active works and continues for up to 7 days after work have been completed, for the safety or the road uses due to loose-chippings.

A 40 mph speed limit will be imposed where applicable for up to 250 metres either side of the defined location during active works, to slow down traffic.

All speed limits apply in both direction and will be clearly indicated by appropriate signage displayed on site.

Head Hill Road, Seasalter Road, Graveney & Faversham Road, Seasalter (Canterbury District) - from outside the Sportsman Pub on Faversham Road to the junction with Whitstable Road.

Parsonage Stocks Road, Faversham - between the junctions with Old Badgins Road and Bags Hill Road.

Hickmans Green (Horselees) - from Thunderhill Business Estate to the junction with Snake Lane.

Hearts Delight Road, Tunstall - between the junctions with Wrens Road and Bredgar Road.

Scotts Lane, Painters Forstal - between the junctions with Hansletts Lane and Eastling Road.

Crouch Street, Selling - between the junctions with Selling Road and South Street.

South Street, Dunkirk - between the junctions with Crouch Lane and Nine Ash Lane.

Cleve Hill, Graveney - from the junction with Head Hill for its entire length.

Breach Lane, Upchurch - from the junction with Landrail Road to outside Home Farm.
