However, Yuri Semin's men – seeking to take Dynamo into the last 16 for the first time since 1999/00 – then undid their good work by losing 2-1 at home to the Portuguese champions on 5 November, surrendering a half-time lead given them by Artem Milevskiy. • When Arsenal last received a visit from Dynamo, the roles were reversed and it was Wenger's charges with their backs to the wall after taking just one point from their opening three group-stage games in 2003/04 – including a 2-1 reverse in Kiev which featured a goal from Maksim Shatskikh, still a Dynamo player. • Yet they revived their hopes with a 1-0 win in the home fixture through an Ashley Cole effort after 88 minutes and ended up topping the group with Dynamo down in fourth place. Last updated 24.11.2008 23:11:55CET www.uefa.com Match background 1 Arsenal FC - FC Dynamo Kyiv Tuesday 25 November 2008 - 20.45 CET MATCH PRESS KIT Arsenal Stadium, London • The lineups for that match at Highbury on 5 November 2003 were: Arsenal: Jens Lehmann, Lauren, Kolo Touré, Sol Campbell, Ashley Cole, Fredrik Ljungberg (Sylvain Wiltord), Ray Parlour (Nwankwo Kanu), Gilberto, Robert Pirès, Dennis Bergkamp (Edu), Thierry Henry. Dynamo: Olexandr Shovkovskiy, Georgi Peev, Goran Gavrančić, Serhiy Fedorov, Andriy Nesmachniy, Denys Onischenko (Goran Sabljić), Jerko Leko, Oleh Gusev (Diogo Rincón), Valentin Belkevich, Maksim Shatskikh (Roberto Nanni), Tiberiu Ghioane. • Overall Dynamo have had the better of past matches against Arsenal. When the teams met in the 1998/99 UEFA Champions League group stage, Dynamo – eventual semi-finalists that season – earned a 1-1 draw in London before prevailing 3-1 in the return in Ukraine. • Dynamo, who finished group winners with Arsenal back in third place, fell behind at Highbury through a Dennis Bergkamp goal after 74 minutes but Serhiy Rebrov grabbed a point with a 90th-minute equaliser. • The lineups for that match on 21 October 1998 were: Arsenal: David Seaman, Lee Dixon, Tony Adams (Nelson Vivas), Martin Keown, Nigel Winterburn, Ray Parlour, Remi Garde, Stephen Hughes, Marc Overmars, Dennis Bergkamp, Nicolas Anelka. Dynamo: Oleksandr Shovkovskyi, Oleh Luzhny (Vasyl Kardash), Olexandr Golovko, Vladyslav Vashchuk, Yury Dmytrulin, Kakha Kaladze, Vitaliy Kossovskiy, Andriy Shevchenko, Serhiy Rebrov, Andriy Husin, Valentin Belkevich. • Dynamo's assistant coach, Oleh Luzhny, featured for the Ukrainian side that day before subsequently moving to Arsenal the following year. He made 75 league appearances for Arsenal between 1999 and 2003, collecting Premier League and FA Cup winner's medals. • Arsenal's overall record against Ukrainian opposition is W2 D3 L3. • Dynamo's record on English soil does not augur well for their chances. The 1-1 draw they recorded against the Gunners in 1998 was the only occasion they have avoided defeat in eight previous visits to England. Their most recent trip yielded a 4-0 defeat at Manchester United FC in last season's group stage. • Arsenal got the better of an FC Lokomotiv Moskva side coached by Semin in the 2003/04 UEFA Champions League group stage. After a goalless draw in Russia, the London team won 2-0 at home in their final game to secure first place in the section. • As coach of AS Monaco FC, Wenger oversaw a 1-0 aggregate defeat of Ukraine's FC Chornomorets Odesa in the 1990/91 UEFA Cup second round. Match facts Arsenal UEFA milestones • The next UEFA Champions League goal Arsenal score will be their 150th in the competition, group stage to final. UEFA Champions League statistics • Two Arsenal players have appeared in all six games this season, including qualifying: Gaël Clichy and Denilson. • The London club have been caught offside 18 times in total, more than any other team. • Emmanuel Adebayor has been ruled offside nine times so far, more than anyone else after four Matchdays. Disciplinary information • Arsenal have no players suspended or within a booking of a ban. Latest domestic information • Saturday 22 November: Manchester City FC 3-0 Arsenal FC (Ireland 45, Robinho 56, Sturridge 90) Arsenal slipped to a second successive Premier League defeat at the City of Manchester Stadium, with Stephen Ireland taking advantage of a mix-up between Mikaël Silvestre and Clichy to open the scoring on the stroke of half-time. Shaun Wright-Phillips set up Robinho to double the lead and a late penalty from Daniel Sturridge, after he had been fouled by Johan Djourou, condemned Arsenal to their heaviest league defeat since a 4-1 loss at Liverpool FC on 31 March 2007. Last updated 24.11.2008 23:11:56CET www.uefa.com Match facts 2 Arsenal FC - FC Dynamo Kyiv Tuesday 25 November 2008 - 20.45 CET MATCH PRESS KIT Arsenal Stadium, London • "It was a very tight game," said Gunners boss Arsène Wenger. "At 0-0 we were in control but we made a mistake for the first goal. After that they defended very well and it was us trying to come back. We tried very hard and gave everything, and if we'd kept it at 0-0 we could have won this game. I believe in this team and this squad – let's not talk too much, keep our belief and stay united." • The manager left out club captain William Gallas for disciplinary reasons, with Manuel Almunia taking over the armband on his 100th appearance for Arsenal while Adebayor was missing, Cesc Fàbregas suspended, and Theo Walcott, Kolo Touré and Bacary Sagna among those injured. Gavin Hoyte came in at right-back for his Premier League debut, Djourou made his first league outing since 20 September, with Alexandre Song also included and Robin van Persie returning from a ban. • Having failed to score in only one of their last 28 games in all competitions before Matchday 4, Arsenal have now drawn a blank in three of the last five matches. • Almunia and Clichy are ever-present in the league this season. • Ireland's goal was the first Arsenal have conceded in the last 15 minutes of a first half in the Premier League this season, although they are still to be breached in the first 15 minutes of a second period. Eleven of the 18 league goals they have shipped have come in the final 30 minutes of games. • The City defeat was the first occasion Arsenal have lost successive league matches since reverses against Everton FC, Liverpool and West Ham United FC between 18 March and 7 April 2007. • Arsenal have won one of their last five top-flight games. • The north Londoners have had a mixed time since Matchday 4 (the 0-0 home draw with Fenerbahçe SK). They returned to Premier League action on 8 November with a 2-1 home win against Manchester United FC, Samir Nasri scoring in each half to secure a vital victory. • Łukasz Fabiański enjoyed his first Premier League outing of the campaign, replacing Almunia in goal with 12 minutes left after the Arsenal No1 sustained a head injury in a collision with Michael Carrick. • A week later, however, Wenger's men slipped to a fourth league defeat of the season – and a second at home – as they went down 2-0 to Aston Villa FC. Clichy inadvertently headed into his own net in the 70th minute and Gabriel Agbonlahor outpaced Gallas to fire in a clinching second ten minutes later. The winning margin might have been even worse for Arsenal had Almunia not saved Ashley Young's first-half penalty. • That reverse was the first time in 59 top-flight matches that Arsenal had lost by more than one goal, and was only their second home defeat in 44 matches in all competitions.

In 2017 only, the work of the Central Election Commission (CEC) was recognized with two international awards.1 The CEC Chairperson was also awarded in 2017 for her contribution to development of electoral processes.2 Such awards are indicative of success, however the question that remains is whether the work of the electoral adminis- tration was equally successful in all areas. Over the last two years the work of the electoral administration with regard to consideration of electoral complaints in the pre-election period was less than successful. Resolving election disputes the right way is a tool for creating fair and competitive electoral environment. The electoral administration, which is in charge of considering and deciding disputes envisaged by the legislation, plays an important role in this regard. It should establish the right practice, in compli- ance with the spirit and goals of the electoral legislation. With its decisions the electoral administration should help create high standard, as a precondition for creating equal electoral environment. Instead the electoral administration has failed to adequately address the chal- lenges raised by several precedent-setting cases. Its use of electoral norms is completely against the purpose of the electoral legislation.

Repeating the feat against Inter's neighbours is a daunting-looking challenge, however, given Milan have won 15 of their last 18 UEFA Champions League home fixtures – including a 4-1 triumph against Bayern in the first knockout round last season. • Milan won through to their sixth successive quarter-final thanks to a 1-0 aggregate victory against Celtic FC in the first knockout round. After a goalless draw in Glasgow, the Rossoneri finally broke down Celtic's resistance through a Kaká goal three minutes into extra time in the return. It was the Brazilian's sixth UEFA Champions League goal of 2006/07. • Bayern overcame Real Madrid CF in the first knockout round, advancing on the away goals rule after a 4-4 aggregate draw.

  • DIAMBARS SOUTH AFRICA Author: D. Habchi OVERVIEW Update
DIAMBARS SOUTH AFRICA Author: D. Habchi OVERVIEW Update: 01/02/10 I. ABOUT DIAMBARS Diambars is a non-governmental organization, created in 2000 by renowned football players, viz., 1998 world champions Patrick Vieira and Bernard Lama, and Jimmy Adjovi-Boco (former captain of the Benin National Team), with the support of several other champions and soccer legends. Diambars uses football as a driving force for education and offers disadvantaged children in Africa, with a talent for playing football, the opportunity to acquire solid academic training. Diambars has created a sport-education model that provides: ― Top level sport-education institutes, which offer accommodation, education and physical training to children between the ages of 13 and 18; the students are expected to achieve high standards in football and education, ― Community-based social development programs, using the power of football as an effective tool to promote education at large. Through education and top level sports, the Diambars Institute aims to favor the integration and fair social development of young people who have chosen high-level sports as a means of self- achievement, without suffering by being uprooted from their home environment. Diambars also acts at the level of sustainable development in response to the lack of educational structures and the poor level of sport in Africa. The model was properly endorsed by UNESCO which recognized Diambars’ capacity to provide quality education and promote the social role of sport. Diambars is a Senegalese word for fighters, which is very fitting for a football academy concept also designed to address the plight of African football players who generally choose the world of football at the expense of education.
