Learn to Handle Stretch Fabric – Make Leggings with Lorna Knight I'm so glad you're joining me to make a pair of leggings. This additional information will help you to be properly prepared for the class.

Please order Kwik Sew 3661 (available from sewdirect.com) to make a pair of three quarter length leggings. (If you prefer a longer length, make these shorter ones first, during the class, to get the hang of the techniques then make your preferred style later.) Fabric and Choose a two-way stretch fabric - see guidelines below for choosing a suitable type and quantity. You will also require elastic for the waist and thread in a suitable colour. Choose the most appropriate size Check the back of the pattern for the most appropriate size to suit your figure and be aware that this may not be the 'off the shelf' size you'd normally purchase from a shop. Use your hip measurement (at the widest part) and check which size you fall into. For example, if your hip circumference is 39”(99cm) cut out the pattern pieces for 'Medium'. Cut your leggings pieces out ready for the class.

Final tips Cut tear away stabiliser into 1” (2cm) strips to use under your seams to prevent the fabric stretching and check the wide stretch stitches your sewing machine has to offer as these are perfect for sewing flat seams for sportswear.
