    BAB I~ PENDAHULUANp I.1 Latar Belakang Masalah Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengaruh penggunaan brand ambassador Haruka Nakagawa dalam iklan sunscreen Bali Breeze terhadap keputusan pembelian produk Bali Breeze pada konsumen remaja di Surabaya. Penelitian ini kemudian menggunakan teori yang dikemukakan oleh Harold D. Laswell. Laswell menyatakan bahwa cara terbaik untuk menjelaskan kompleksitas komunikasi adalah dengan menjawab pertanyaan who – says what – in which channel – to whom – with what effect. Teori yang disampaikan oleh Laswell ini secara gamblang mengkategorikan elemen dasar dari komunikasi ke dalam lima unsur yang tidak dapat dihilangkan. Menurut Laswell, komunikasi adalah sebuah proses penyampaian pesan yang dilakukan oleh komunikator (who saysgwhatg) melaluigmedia ( in~whichhchannelg) kepadabkomunikan (togwhom) yang kemudian menimbulkan efekgtertentu ( withgwhatf effectf). (Laswell dalam Moerdijati, 2016: 91). Dalam penelitian ini, dapat dijabarkan bahwa pihak yang berperan sebagai komunikator adalah Natasha Group yang 1 menaungi produk sunscreen Bali Breeze, diwakili dengan keberadaan brand ambassador yaitu Haruka Nakagawa. Pesan yang disampaikan berisi jangan takut untuk berpetualang di bawah sinar matahari karena ada produk sunscreen Bali Breeze yang akan selalu melindungi. Lalu disampaikan melalui media Youtube yang ditujukan kepada para penonton iklan sebagai komunikan. Menurut Stuart dalam Hafied Cangara (2005:163) efek atau pengaruh merupakan kesenjangan perbedaan antara apa yang dipikirkan, dirasakan dan dilakukan oleh komunikan pada saat sebelum dan sesudah menerima pesan. Selain itu, pengaruh juga merupakan salah satu unsur dalam komunikasi yang menjadi indikator untuk mengetahui keberhasilan suatu komunikasi yang kita harapkan.. Efek/pengaruh dapat dikatakan berhasil apabila perubahan (P) yang terjadi pada diri komunikan sama dengan tujuan (T) yang diharapkan oleh si komunikator. Efek atau pengaruh dapat terjadi dalam bentukfperubahantpengetahuanf (kognitif), perubahan sikapf(afektif), perubahan perilakur(konatif).
