MINNESOTA WILD NAMES SENIOR ADVISOR TO THE

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – General Manager today announced the (NHL) club has named Ray Shero Senior Advisor to the General Manager.

Shero, 58 (7/28/62), most recently served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the from May 4, 2015 to January 12, 2020. Prior to his time with the Devils he spent eight seasons as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the from 2006-07 to 2013-14. During his tenure with Pittsburgh, the Penguins won the 2009 and he was named the General Manager of the Year in 2012- 13.

Before he joined the Penguins, Shero served as Assistant General Manager for the (1993-98) and the (1998-2006). The Saint Paul, Minn., native is actively involved with USA Hockey and is a member of its National Team Advisory Board. He was a member of the 2017 and 2018 United States Men’s National Team Advisory Group that selected the International Federation Men’s World Championship teams and served as associate general manager for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Shero collected 135 points (58-77=135) and 136 minutes (PIM) in 125 games during four seasons at St. Lawrence University (1980-81, 1982-85). He led the Saints in scoring in 1982-83 and 1983-84 and served as team in 1984-85. Shero was selected by Los Angeles in the 11th round (216th overall) of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. He spent seven seasons as a player agent before joining the Ottawa Senators hockey operations department in 1993.

He and his wife, Karen, have two sons, Chris and Kyle.
