Part I – Mandatory Training

New Volunteers

New volunteers are expected to participate in the following training sessions. These are considered the minimum requirement to meet program requirements.

Description: The basics for new volunteers including introduction to equipment, administration, approaches to teaching, and the CADS assessment methodology.

Description: Warm-up, teaching aids on Green terrain, review and coaching.

2 The previous plan was to hold one day just for new volunteers separately, then have new volunteers join everyone else for the second day. Owing to schedule compression, all mandatory training will be held on the same day (December 17th) which would not allow for this. This additional module is progressive to the foundation training offered on December 17th and is highly recommended for all new volunteers.

Volunteers Returning for the Second Year

The following is considered to be the minimum training for volunteers who have completed just one year of service as a volunteer with the CADS program. Second year volunteers are also encouraged to attend the CADS certification Level I Autism Spectrum Disorder/Cognitively Impaired module scheduled for 1pm – 3pm on November 12th 2016 (see CADS Certification section).

Pre-Season and Prep

The following training is offered to help volunteers to build strength and skills that will assist them in working with our skiers. Everyone is welcome, but we would ask that only certified CADS Level I instructors (or very strong and experienced volunteers) attend the Level II certification prep session.
