Leabhrán Eolais 2021 Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Loch Garman LEABHRÁN EOLAIS 2021 BUÍOCHAS As my fifth term as Public Relations Officer of Wexford GAA I am delighted to be able to continue with this annual publication of our Wexford GAA Club directory. This small but vital little book has now become an important tool for all club managers and officers and provides a comprehensive list of names and contact details of everyone attached to Wexford GAA both adult and underage. Thanks to all clubs for their submission of their details. At county level we are reaching new highs in our hurling and we are getting there with football. As Public Relations Officer, I ask each club to keep promoting everything that is good about your club and everything that is good about Wexford GAA and together we will get there. Think positive for 2021 for football and hurling, both club and county and we wish all Wexford GAA clubs, managers, selectors and supporters a very successful 2020 season. “Ni ceart go cur le chéile” Pádraig Húilín Oifeach Caidreamh Poiblí Coiste Chontae Loch Garman Emergency Phone Numbers Caredoc: 1850 334 999 Emergency Call: 112 or 999 Wexford General Hospital: 053 91 53000 1 2021 Wexford GAA Management Committee Chairperson: Micheál Martin 087 6291866 [email protected] Vice Bobby Goff 087 2542041 Chairman [email protected] Interm Eanna Martin 087 9911027 Operations Manager: [email protected] Assistant Andrew Egan 087-2307759 Secretary: [email protected] Treasurer: Andrew Nolan 087-2221497 [email protected] P.R.O.: PJ Howlin 087 2733589 [email protected] Development David Tobin 087 7943449 Officer: [email protected] Central Dermot Howlin 086 8134507 Council: [email protected] 2 Wexford GAA Management Committee (con’d) Children’s Des Croke 086 2944249 Officer: [email protected] Oifigeach na Cian Ó Lionáin 087 9020087 Gaeilge: [email protected] Leinster Council Mary Foley 087 1955152 Reps: [email protected] Cathal Byrne 085 1461164 [email protected] Management Tony Dempsey 087 2754031 Committee: All Ireland Congress (2): (County Chairman & County Secretary) Coiste na nÓg John Kenny 087 8174840 Chairperson: [email protected] Coiste na nÓg Aideen Howlin 085 2187075 Secretary: [email protected] Coaching Tommy Cousins 086-1546593 Officer: [email protected] 3 WEXFORD GAA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MICHEÁL BOBBY ANDREW ANDREW MARTIN GOFF NOLAN EGAN Chairperson Vice-Chairman Treasurer Asst. Camogie Association & GAA Information and Guidance leaflet on the National Vetting Bureau (Children & Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012 March 2015 1 National Vetting Bureau (Children & Vulnerable Persons) Act The National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012 is the vetting legislation passed by the Houses of the Oireachtas in December 2012. This legislation is part of a suite of complementary legislative proposals to strengthen child protection policies and practices in Ireland. Once the ‘Vetting Bureau Act’ commences the law on vetting becomes formal and obligatory and all organisations and their volunteers or staff who with children and vulnerable adults will be legally obliged to have their personnel vetted. Such personnel must be vetted prior to the commencement of their work with their Association or Sports body. It is important to note that prior to the Act commencing that the Associations’ policy stated that all persons who in a role of responsibility work on our behalf with children and vulnerable adults has to be vetted. This applies to those who work with underage players. (The term ‘underage’ applies to any player who is under 18 yrs of age, regardless of what team with which they play). The introduction of compulsory vetting, on an All-Ireland scale through legislation, merely formalises our previous policies and practices. 1 When will the Act commence or come into operation? The Act is effectively agreed in law but has to be ‘commenced’ by the Minister for Justice and Equality who decides with his Departmental colleagues when best to commence all or parts of the legislation at any given time.

In that way we can keep the resolution of the photos high and the size of both sections will be less than one megabyte. Part one is the magazine section and part two is the weekend roundup. The three Cup Finals in Croke Park provided some fine hurling but the crowd was just under 4,000 so it is probably back to the drawing board for those finals. Each needs to be played as a curtain raiser to a game from the Liam McCarthy Championship to create the right atmosphere. The Munster Final had patches of fine hurling and some fine individual displays but lacked the intensity of former classics. Both teams Tipperary and Waterford are continu - ing to make progress. Tipperary still look the best challenger to the champions but Wa - terford battled with heart and could yet make a final four berth. Best wishes ‘til next week from Hurling World. FEATURE Mickey ‘The Rattler’Byrne Issue 11 July 13th 2009 p 3 Rattle ‘em Mickey! Mickey ‘The Rattler’ Byrne from Thurles Sarsfields, held down the right fullback position for Tipperary for 12 championship seasons between 1949 and 1960 and was a substitute on the All-Ireland winning team of 1945.

The 1916 Rising and County Wexford Introduction The 1916 Rising and County Wexford pack is an introduction to County Wexford’s contribution to the uprising of that year. It offers information on many aspects: causes and context, a timeline of events, the aftermath, profiles of some local leaders, the role of women, and arts and literature inspired by the Rising, among others. Extracts from original documents of the period - letters, newspaper accounts, and witness statements are included. The selection provides a flavour of life in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in Ireland and in County Wexford. It is intended to encourage and enable students to embark on further study. The pack includes references for all sources quoted and offers guidance to sources and resources for further research. The 1916 Rising and County Wexford pack cannot and does not attempt to tell the story of the Rising in its entirety. Rather, it introduces the reader to the wealth of information available in primary sources - an essential starting point for all reliable research- and in books, websites and other e-sources. The pack focuses in particular on local supports - the materials in the Wexford Studies Collections located on the top floor of the County Library in Mallin St., Wexford town, and in the Wexford County Archive collections in Ardcavan, Wexford. While every effort is made here to offer as current a resource as possible, you are directed also to the Council’s website for the 2016 Commemorations, www.enniscorthy1916.ie which will be updated beyond the print date of this publication.
