CONSTITUTION DAY

ABOUT Constitution Day also known as ‘Samvidhan Divas' , is celebrated in our country on 26th November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of . On 26th November 1949,the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the , which came into effect from 26th January 1950. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 19th November 2015 notified the decision of to celebrate the 26th day of November every year as ‘Constitution Day' to promote Constitution values among citizens.

CELEBRATION Various departments of the Indian constitution celebrated the first Constitution Day in 2015. As per Department of Education and Literacy, the preamble of the constitution was read in all schools by all the students, In addition, there were quiz and essay competitions both online and offline on the subject of the Constitution of India.

SIGNIFICANCE OF CONSTITUTION DAY

26th November was marked as the Constitution Day of India by Prime Minister in the year 2015 as a part of year-long celebration of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar. Constitution Day of India aims to bring awareness on the importance of the Indian Constitution and its architect, Dr B R Ambedkar.

Why India Celebrates November 26th as Samvidhan Divas?

The Constitution of India is the longest written constitution of any sovereign country in the world. It also aims to create awareness of Fundamental Duties as enshrined in the Constitution . November 26th, Which was earlier celebrated as Law Day, marks the day when India had adopted its Constitution back in 1949, more than two years after attaining independence from the British rule. The Constitution came into effect next year on 26th January 1950, So as to Commemorate the pledge of Purna Swaraj, passed in the Lahore session of the Congress on this day in 1930

WE ,THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, Having solemnly resolved to constitute India Into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens; JUSTICE, social, economic and political; LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship; EQUALITY of status and of opportunity; And to promote among them all FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation.

MY EXPERIENCE We celebrated constitution day on 26th November 2019 in an online mode due to COVID-19. All the cadets were asked to be in uniform.We started off with the a Power Point Presentation introduction on Constitution Day. The cadets were very enthusiastic in participating. Some of us presented our views through posters and slogans on Constitution Day. We recited our preamble and took pledge. It was a wonderful experience for me as it taught me a lot about our constitution, why we need it and the importance of constitution day.
