The virtual premiere of Ekulti Ek, starring his debutante daughter Shriya Pilgaonkar was held at Mumbai’s historic Citylight theatre near Shivaji Park, marking the completion of 50 years of Sachin’s career in the world of films. Along with the actors Sachin, Shriya, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Ashok Saraf, some of the luminaries seen at the virtual premiere included the grand old lady of cinema – Sulochana, Kiran Shantaram, Renuka Shahane, Ashutosh Rana, Sumeet Raghavan, Nishikant Kamat, Satish Shah and Nivedita Saraf. Based on the sensitive theme of a father-daughter relationship, Ekulti Ek is an entertainer being screened in 47 UFO theatres across Maharashtra from Friday, 24th May. The virtual interactive premiere of Ekulti Ek served as a golden jubilee treat for Sachin’s fans. Indian Film Industry is one of the largest in the world and Aamchi Mumbai accounts for almost 60 per cent of film productions. Hence, it is the metonym of Indian cinema. Therefore, it is aptly called Bollywood on the lines of Hollywood, the centre of movie studios and movie stars. On this backdrop, Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, popularly known as Film city, was established in 1977. Spread over 500 acre area with the natural ambience conducive for making a film or a TV serial, Chitranagari is being looked after and governed by the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation, a State Government initiative. The people who come to earn their bread and butter take refuge in the Chitranagari which contributes 50 per cent of the revenue generated by Indian entertainment industry. It is one of the largest studio complex in India with ready-to-shot infrastructure such as AC studios, locals that provide scenic beauty and the atmosphere to fulfill their aspirations. It is an abode for people from different spheres of life, different strata of the society. People from every nook and corner of India come together here showing picture of a country in itself.

    CHAPTER 3 GEOGRAPHICAL AND SOCIO -ECONOMIC BACKGROUND OF MAHARASHTRA 41 I P a - c CHAPTER-3 GEOGRAPHICAL AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC BACKGROUND OF MAHARASHTRA 3.1 Location, Extent and Boundaries: Maharashtra is situated in the western part of India and covers the entire Deccan region. With an area of approximately 308,000 sq km (119,000 sq miles), it claims the distinction of being counted amongst the largest states of India. The state stands bounded by Chhattisgarh in the east, Madhya Pradesh in the north, Karnataka in the south, Goa in the southwest, Andhra Pradesh in the southeast and Gujarat in the northwest Situated in between Maharashtra and Gujarat is the Union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.The mighty Arabian Sea makes up the west coast of Maharashtra. Running parallel to this coast are the Sahyadri Hills, also known as the Western Ghats, which rise up to the height of 1,200 meters (4,000 feet). 42 I P a o c To the east of the Ghats lies the Deccan Plateau. On the other hand, the Konkani coastal plains are situated to their west and boast of a width of 50-80 kilometers. Western Ghats are one of the three watersheds of India and it is from here that most of the rivers in South India have found their origin. Even Godavari River and Krishna River flow from there and go till The Bay of Bengal. A number of small rivers also originate from the Ghats, and go towards west, ultimately emptying into the Arabian Sea. In the eastern side of the state, one can find the Vainganga, rushing towards the Bay of Bengal.
