ABOYNE JUNIORS NEWSLETTER – 1st JUNE 2017

Hi everyone, lots to update you on so here goes: -

Aberdeen & District Junior Pennant

Firstly, a massive WELL DONE to our young junior Pennant team in the & District League this season. We had a tough game on Sunday against alot older Portlethen team but you all did Aboyne proud.

A mention to Hamish McLardy who at 10 years of age is one of the youngest players ever to make his debut for the Club. Playing off 20 handicap he had an awesome debut - well done Hamish from all you team mates and the Junior Committee.

The Club is very proud of you all and thank you for conducting yourself in such an exemplary fashion - you are all a real credit to the Club. We will be back bigger and stronger for the Pennant next season with no doubt more players to select from and the handicaps will keep coming down!!

Tuesday Night Medal

Fantastic to see 36 juniors taking part in our Tuesday night medal and even more new faces joining in the fun. Some great scoring amongst the 3, 5 & 9-holers.

Great too to see some youngsters coming over from Drumoak and other local villages – keep spreading the word that Juniors are most welcome at Aboyne.

A big THANK YOU to Malcolm at Aboyne Jewellers for his continued sponsorship of the Aboyne Juniors section – Malcolm donated the trophies and engraves them too. Check out his website at www.aboynejewellers.co.uk

ScottishGolf Junior – Sunday 2nd July

We met with ScottishGolf (SG) on Friday to discuss the tournament on 2nd July and how we market this event to ensure we have a maximum attendance and full exposure for the Club. It is a real coup for Aboyne to be selected and builds on the back of our work promoting the game to juniors as well as working in collaboration with Aboyne Academy on several marketing initiatives.

You may be aware that SG have been working with the Scottish Government on the ‘ClubGolf’ initiative whereby all primary school children aged over 9 are introduced to the game. There is a real push from the governing body and other political stakeholders to address the issue of outdoor sports and exercise for our young people.

You will see from the flyer that SG have now started their national media campaign to promote these various regional qualifiers. On 2nd July, SG will have their full marketing machine in attendance at Aboyne with photographers together with taking drone footage as they want to compile a video after the event.

We are now looking to secure a few ‘partners’ to help offset the cost of running the tournament, providing food, prizes, ‘goodies’ etc… thereby giving the 74 youngsters playing a day at Aboyne they will not easily forget.

If you are a parent with business interests looking to promote your company and brand then this is a great opportunity to reach a national audience through highly cost-effective marketing. We have a range of sponsorship opportunities to meet your budget and are happy to discuss bespoke packages.

For a very modest sum we have an ‘EAGLE’ strategic sponsorship package with an extensive range of branding and proactive marketing (SG’s e-newsletter alone goes out to 211,000 registered golfers in ).

If you are slightly budget constrained then a ‘BIRDIE’ sponsorship package is also on offer with a slightly reduced range of benefits. For a very modest amount there is also the opportunity to take one of our ‘’ packages whereby you can sponsor a hole with prizes for ‘Nearest the Pin’, ‘Straightest Drive’ etc…..

If parents can highlight this great opportunity to their business acquaintances we would be most grateful. Any enquiries should be addressed to Marketing Convenor Nigel Bradburn at: [email protected]

Aboyne will be entering a team. Further details about the event this year can be found at the SG Press Release Here
