JOHNNY PETRAGLIA FEATURED IN VFW MAGAZINE ARTICLE NORWALK — PBA Hall of Famer Johnny Petraglia was the subject of an article in the October edition of VFW Magazine by Richard Kolb featuring noted sports figures who served during the Vietnam War. Among other noted athletes who were featured in the story were Dallas Cowboys legend Roger Staubach and former Notre Dame/Pittsburgh Steelers star Rocky Bleier. According to the article, Petraglia enlisted for a two-year tour- of-duty in the U.S. Army in September of 1966 and first served as a cook, which was required for all new enlistees. He was sent to Vietnam in October of 1967 where he served in the 368th Trans- Benny Salcines and Alta James portation Company that was responsible for the discharge and loading of cargo. He was discharged in June of 1968. At the time Petraglia entered the service at age 19, he was already a PBA member and had just come off his first PBA Tour 2 6 3 title – the Fort Smith (Arkansas) Open in August of 1966.
