Transportation Transportation Taiwan has two main international airports. Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is located in northern Taiwan in Taoyuan County, about 280 kilometers from Tainan. Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) is located in southern Taiwan in Kaohsiung City, about 75 kilometers from Tainan. KHH is more convenient if you are coming from abroad to National Cheng Kung University and you can find a suitable flight. Please note that all the following prices are approximate and subject to change. For the most up-to- date pricing information please check the corresponding websites on the last page. Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) to NCKU/Hotel By Taiwan Railways: Kaohsiung Rapid Transit (KRT) Taiwan Railways Walk/Taxi to NCKU and Hotels Step 1: Kaohsiung Rapid Transit (KRT) Red Line: Kaohsiung International Airport (R4) → Kaohsiung Main Station (R11) Single-journey ticket price: NT$35 Travel time: 18 minutes Step 2: Taiwan Railways Different type of trains can be used to travel from Kaohsiung to Tainan, with different number of stops and costs. For example, the TzeChiang Limited Express (自強號) takes 35–40 minutes, with a ticket price of NT$106; the Local Train (區間車) takes 50–60 minutes, with a ticket price of NT$68. Step 3: Walk or Taxi to NCKU/Hotel After you arrive at the Tainan Train Station, walk out the station’s Rear Exit (located on the east side). The National Cheng Kung University is located just across the street, Qianfeng Road, from the station’s Rear Exit on the north side of University Road. Taxis are available at this exit. Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel If you are staying at the Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, this hotel is located just across the street, Qianfeng Road, from the station’s Rear Exit on the south side of University Road. However, if you have a lot of luggage and/or cannot walk down and up the stairs necessary to reach this station’s Rear Exit, you can take a taxi from the Front Exit (located on the west side). The taxi ride will cost less than NT$100 and will take less than 5 minutes. 1 Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) to NCKU/Hotel (continued) By Shuttle Bus: Pick-Up Service Reservation Please contact Ms. Maxine Yang ([email protected]) of the International Secretariat, SATU Presidents’ Forum, for assistance in booking a reservation. The travel time is about 60 minutes. Please note that taxi fares may vary subject to traffic conditions. 2 Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to NCKU/Hotel Note: Traveling by Taiwan High Speed Rail is currently the most popular and fastest option of traveling between northern and southern Taiwan. By Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR): Taoyuan Airport MRT Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) Taiwan Railways Walk/Taxi to NCKU and Hotels Step 1: Taoyuan Airport MRT or Taxi Airport Terminal 1 (A12) or Airport Terminal 2 (A13) → Taoyuan THSR Station (A18) Single-journey ticket price: NT$35 Travel time: 20 minutes If a taxi is preferred to travel from the airport to the Taoyuan THSR Station, the fare and time are about NT$350 and 15 minutes, respectively. Step 2: Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) Taoyuan → Tainan Single-journey ticket price: Standard seat NT$1,190 Travel time: 80–100 minutes Step 3: Taiwan Railways to Tainan Train Station or Taxi to Your Hotel Taiwan Railways to Tainan Train Station Shalun Line: Shalun → Tainan Single-journey ticket price: Standard seat NT$25 Travel time: 25 minutes Note: Use any train that leaves the Shalun Train Station because they all make a stop at the Tainan Train Station. Taxi to Your Hotel From the Tainan THSR Station, the taxi fare is approximately NT$400. The travel time is about 25 minutes. Please note that taxi fares may vary subject to traffic conditions. Step 4: Walk or Taxi to NCKU/Hotel If you take the Taiwan Railways to the Tainan Train Station, walk out the station’s Rear Exit (located on the east side). Abstract “Toilet”, an indispensible facility of architecture in modern people’s life, has reflected civilian hygienic habit, civic-minded standard, aesthetic consciousness, overall educational level of a nation and national economic development. A well-established public toilet should meet many basic needs like safety, convenience, pleasing to the eye, saving resources, and hygiene etc. Later on, this study not only explores every basic functional requirement what public toilets of MRT stations should have, but analyze and discuss the functions of pleasing to the eye, comfort, energy saving, environmental protection, humanization, and design being used universally etc. Hopefully there will be more complete, convenient and comfortable service space of sanitary toilets provided. Users’ need can be satisfied as well. Meanwhile, the management authority can reduce the management cost of every item. The workload for cleaning and maintenance personnel can be lessened to fulfill the objective of need in every aspect. This study plans to collect fundamental examples of cases for public toilets both in domestic and foreign MRT stations. The later goal will be aimed at knowing the use condition and current setup status of already built public toilets for domestic MRT stations.

In order to increase the service capacity efficiency on check-in, security checks, and customs clearance, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications R.O.C. (MOTC), Taiwan, rerouted the airport traffic flow by implementing the in-town check-in (ITCI) concept to decrease crowding in the airport waiting hall. This research examined the structure of critical success factors (CSFs) for ITCIs, deriving three hierarchies of three dimensions, eight criteria, and 18 evaluation indexes from the previous literature, expert interviews, and analysis results from Analytic Network Process (ANP) via Super Decisions software. The three CSF dimensions were: first- level hierarchy “advantageous environments,” followed by “marketing” and “service value,” which is a second-level hierarchy. The goal is to avoid centralization of a passenger in certain transfer stations, which means that some transfer stations are overloaded, whereas some transfer stations may be nearly empty. This study applies the open data of origin and destination station to solve this problem. Specifically, through a direct computational comparison of the objective function value and statistical analysis between our proposed model and the existing route development, it confirms that our route development would achieve a reduction of ridership transfer flow of approximately 15% in this case.
