SIMON MOORE Writer/ Director Television: Simon’s first TV series was INSIDE OUT, a 6 part drama for the BBC about two women running an unemployment agency for ex-cons. TRAFFIK, a 6 hour mini series for Channel 4 about the international heroin business. Filmed in Pakistan, Germany and England, it starred Bill Paterson and Lindsay Duncan. The series was a huge critical success throughout the world, winning many awards including the international EMMY for “Best Series”, 4 BAFTA Awards, 4 FIPA awards, the top prizes at the BAMPF and Umbria Fiction Festivals, and the UK Critics award as “Best Series”. Simon adapted Jonathan Swift’s GULLIVER’S TRAVELS for NBC/ Channel 4/ Hallmark/ Hensons. Critically acclaimed in the USA and UK, the four part mini series had 57,600,000 viewers in the US. Simon won the EMMY for Outstanding Writing and the prestigous US HUMANITAS award. Simon’s ten hour serial THE TENTH KINGDOM was broadcast on NBC in the US in February/ March 2000 and was shown on Sky in the UK. Simon co-produced with Brian Eastman and Jane Prowse for Carnival Films and Hallmark Entertainment for NBC/ SKY. Simon wrote DINOTOPIA for ABC in the US and Sky in the UK. Revenue is also the most important and intuitionistic feedback to producers, directors and actors. Therefore it is worth for us to put effort on analyzing what factors correlate to revenue, so that producers, directors and actors know how to get higher revenue on next movie by focusing on most correlated factors. Our project focuses on anaylzing all kinds of factors that correlated to revenue, for example, genres, elements in the movie, popularity, release month, runtime, vote average, vote count on website and cast etc. After analysis, we can clearly know what are the crucial factors to a movie's revenue and our analysis can be used as a guide for people shooting movies who want to earn higher renveue for their next movie. They can focus on those most correlated factors, for example, shooting specific genre and hire some actors who have higher average revenue. The Illinois Film Office will be honoring local veterans with a free screening of The Lucky Ones as part of the IFO Night at the Movies series, a new program for people around the state to see movies shot in Illinois for free and to learn more about Illinois’ bustling film industry. The Lucky Ones was shot throughout Illinois in 2007, accounting for more than 941 job hires and about $4.2 million in Illinois spending. The Lucky Ones, directed by Neil Burger and starring Rachel McAdams, Tim Robbins and Michael Peña, is the story of three soldiers’ return to the United States after serving the U.S. Army in Iraq. The screening will be held at 7 p.m. on September 23 at the Showplace 16 at 8301 East State Street in Rockford. The film opens nationwide on September 26. Seats are limited so interested veterans should rsvp to secure seats for themselves and a guest. Email responses should be sent to [email protected]. It also announced that it is now an Academy qualifying festival for the Documentary Short Subject Award. With four competitive categories in narrative feature, documentary feature, narrative short film, documentary short film, and programs in seven non-competitive categories, the Hamptons International Film Festival seeks diverse films made by filmmakers that traverse the globe in order to tell their stories through different cultural styles and experiences. Already an Academy qualifying festival for Short Live Action Films, the HIFF can now grant the winner of its Documentary Short Film Competition eligibility to enter the Documentary Short Subject category of the Academy Awards® without standard theatrical run.
