Jamie Burns works hard against Gosnells City Photo S.Kelly Ashfield vs Joondalup United All flags State League Division 1 4th June 2016 Official Match Day Program, Round 8, issue 4 My Word by Bill Busby club President Busby Welcome Joondalup United to Ashfield Reserve. We never have any easy games with Joondalup and whilst their 1 st team are well placed sitting in 2 nd spot with 16 points, they lead us by 5 points with us in 4 th on 11 points. We sure we want to close the gap and with a home fixture we are determined to regain our momentum, despite a string of injuries we are getting stronger and with that strength comes confidence, and a desire to do well. As always I ex- pect both teams will give no quarter today and we on the balcony will be cheer- ing our ASHY boys on. I am sure Paul Dundo and Gerry Wardle will be pushing our team in this important fixture. Our reserves are just one point behind Joondalup. With some excellent young talent coming through our reserves, and the way our coach Barry Richards leads his team, we are privileged to be able to enjoy the talent on the pitch, plenty of pace and endeavour with 100 per cent effort, lets pip Joondalup and rise to the top over our visitors I am quietly confident in Barry’s boys being able to contain the top scoring Joondalup who have scored 35 goals. Add to that the 24 we have scored and the supporters should see plenty of goals today. Last week our under 18s lost narrowly 1 - 0,and we know our super coach Mark Humphreys will be using his best talents to get our 18s back on the winning trail, we have a talented team that Mark has got to a position of being consis- tent and more importantly playing great football. We have a lot of boys ready to push up into the ressies and 1 st teams. This is another opportunity to impress the coaches and show on the pitch, that they have the talent and strength to push up, and impress Barry Richards and Paul Dundo/Gerry Wardlle. I ENCOURAGE ALL PLAYERS AND SUP- PORTERS IN TO OUR CLUB- ROOMS AFTER THE GAMES. Bill Ashfield Needs YOU!!! It's been a rough 3 weeks! 2 points from 9! However I can't fault the effort from the lads. We haven't had the rub of the green and still need to work on a few improve- ments. As a coach's that's what we're here to do, take the rough with the smooth and develop the players we have. The main thing is that we are still second in the league with a chance to go to top this weekend. I’ve asked the lads to re - focus and ask themselves why they play for the club and whether they want to go all the way this year. If they're up for it then so are Jamie and I. If we can get something from this week's game we are right back in the pack coming up to mid season. We have the ability, but do we have the mentality? I think we do! So we will see. Thanks to all the supporters in advance and good luck to the 18's and first team this weekend. It's a big one! Best of luck to all the players Jamie and I are proud of what you have achieved so far and there is still a lot of football left in this league.
