Dear Midwest League Fans:
On behalf of Minor League Baseball and the Midwest League, I want to welcome you to the ballpark for another exciting season of Minor League Baseball!
The 2019 season will see the opening of new ballparks in Amarillo, Texas; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Fayetteville, North Carolina, and based on the success of Minor League Baseball’s Hispanic/Latinx fan engagement initiative, Copa de la Diversión, that program will expand from 33 to 72 teams as our teams expand their efforts to be more representative of their communities.
While you may see some new logos and team identities this spring and summer, what remains the same is the quality, affordable family entertainment in a clean and safe environment that is a staple of Minor League Baseball across the country.
With 20 leagues and more than 250 clubs, Minor League Baseball is where you will find the next generation of baseball’s brightest stars on their way to the big leagues. You just might be watching the next Kris Bryant in South Bend tonight, the next Mike Trout in Cedar Rapids or the next Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in Lansing!
The Midwest League has a long history of clubs making a difference in their communities while also providing a great product on the field and in the stands. The Midwest League was the most charitable of our leagues when it comes to giving back to its communities as the 16 clubs made gift in‐kind contributions of over $6 million in 2018!
Minor League Baseball also remains an integral part of the sports landscape, and of the communities it represents. Last season, Minor League Baseball’s philanthropic endeavors included donating over $40.5 million in cash and value in kind contributions to local and national charities. We are proud to support our National Charity Partners: The ALS Association, the American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The BairFind Foundation and Ed Randall’s Fans for the Cure, as well as other worthy initiatives and causes.
In 2018, a remarkable 40.4 MILLION fans attended Minor League Baseball games and I am certain that with your continued support, Minor League Baseball will prosper for many years to come. As stewards and fans of the game, it is our responsibility to build, nurture and protect this great game for the future generations of fans.
Thank you, again, for your passionate support of Minor League Baseball, and particularly the Midwest League. I wish you a healthy and enjoyable season of baseball. Let's play ball!
Sincerely,
Pat O'Conner President & CEO Minor League Baseball

FOUR WINDS FIELD WHERE EVERYONE COMES TO PLAY “Four Winds Field is the gold standard in the minor leagues.”
Andrew T. Berlin, South Bend Cubs Owner
Since purchasing the South Bend franchise in 2011, owner Andrew T. Berlin has led a transformation effort of Four Winds Field both inside and outside of the ballpark. Beginning with a full high-definition video production room, a new state of the art home clubhouse and a pris- tine natural grass surface, Berlin and the South Bend Cubs put their plan into action.
Since becoming a Chicago Cubs affiliate in the 2015 season, the new 1st Source Bank Performance Center was built. The Performance Center not only allows South Bend Cubs players to work on their craft anytime they want, but the South Bend community as well. The multi-million dollar building is open to fans during games and little league teams from across the region to workout all year round.
Other updated amenities in the ballpark include the Fun Zone, Tiki Hut, Playground, Splash Pad, eight indoor suites, and 10 outdoor suites.
In the 2018 season, construction of The Ivy at Berlin Place Project out- side the left and center field gates began. The apartment buildings and shops include the United Federal Credit Union rooftop, where groups can watch South Bend Cubs Baseball with the best view in the house.
Guests who sit on the rooftop are also welcome to come into Four Winds Field and explore the concourse. Berlin’s vision for the rooftop not only gives fans a new way to watch the game, but also a new Downtown envi- ronment and experience.
10 Team Owner: Andrew Berlin WELCOME TO 2019 SOUTH BEND CUBS BASEBALL! It’s hard to believe it’s been eight years since I started enjoying baseball in South Bend. The progress we’ve made in delivering a winning team both on and off the field, brings me great joy. But that doesn’t mean we’re being complacent. I’m confident that 2019 will be the best year yet for our club and our fans!
We’ve made terrific progress on each of these goals. This is our fourth season affiliated with the Chicago Cubs, and I assure you we strive for excellence at each “at bat” we have. Importantly, we have some amazing momentum from last season – momen- tum that will helps us on the field and off.
It starts with our legendary new manager
Please welcome Buddy Bailey to the dugout as our new man- ager. Buddy is currently the winningest active coach in minor league baseball. His penchant for tutoring players, teaching them how to win and bringing success on the field is what makes him such a valuable asset to the club. I’m excited to have him on board. And along with seeing tomorrow’s stars today, our facilities attract big names to do rehab assignments here, as well. Over the last three seasons, players like Dexter Fowler, Jason Heyward and Yu Darvish have all played here in our friendly confines before rejoining the big club.

To Our Loyal Midwest League Fans:
After a challenging winter in the Midwest, Spring is here and with it Midwest League baseball. Our game is a treasure and each of our communities in the Midwest League is blessed to be able to attend games and enjoy the exciting atmosphere, and the young stars who will some day populate the Major Leagues.
One aspect of the Midwest League many may not know about, is we lead Minor League Baseball in “GBs”. What is a GB you might ask? It is Give Backs. Last year our Clubs gave back to their communities, donations which amounted to over 7 million dollars. The Cougars in Kane County contributed over 1 million dollars, and Quad Cities led all of Minor League Baseball in cash donations. Lake County has a wonderful Miracle Field right next to their ballpark. The rest of our Clubs have great stories to tell as well. Bottom line, Midwest League Clubs are a shining example of corporate citizenship. Every ticket you buy will yield a return on investment in our own home towns for those who are in need.
Speaking of home towns, mine will host the All-Star Game on Tuesday, June 18. It will be in South Bend for the first time in 30 years. I invite all of you to take a road trip or drive down the street to see the premier event of the year in our League. Lansing last year and Midland the year before have set the bar really high. I look forward to how South Bend meets the challenge.
This year marks the 20th season for Midwest League Baseball in Dayton. In the prior 19 seasons they have had 1,316 straight sell outs – a professional sports record by a long shot. It is a success story we in our League love to tell. Each of our Clubs offer something special as well.
Get out soon and often with your family to watch as each Club tries to supplant the Bowling Green Hot Rods, the 2018 Midwest League Champion, and Baseball America’s Minor League Team of the Year. Laugh at the entertainment. Have a hot dog and soda and just smile. Thank you for your wonderful support. See you at the Park. Play Ball!!!
Sincerely,
Richard A. Nussbaum, II, President
