Woughton Community Council has noticeboards on all residential estates in the parish. Beanhill, Coffee Hall, Eaglestone, Leadenhall, Netherfield, Peartree Bridge and Tinkers Bridge. Important Parish notices are posted here, and you can find out what is happening locally. If you have a charity or fund raising event contact the office to see if we can include it. Look out for new planting coming to a noticeboard near you….

The Bad

Parking issues are causing problems on many of our estates. Driving on to green areas destroys the surface, which could lead to damage of services below the soil such as gas, electric and water pipes. It also makes it difficult for our landscaping team to cut the grass, especially if there are deep ruts.

The evening also saw Pete Winkelman, Chair of MK Dons officially open the new Council Hub and Head Office at Coffee Hall. The evening was attended by the Mayor of Milton Keynes Cllr Steve Coventry

10 WOUGHTON GAZETTE SPRING 2017 Dog Poo, please clean up after your dog. There are 38 dog bins throughout Woughton parish, so please use them. Dog bags are available from the office. Dog waste in your garden should be bagged and placed in a black sack. Do not leave the bags on the floor by a dog bin – this is an offence.

The Ugly

Fly tipping – yes, that old problem! And it’s our problem – everybody’s. We pay, through our Council Tax, the landfill charge of over £100 per tonne for other people’s laziness.

The pictures opposite were taken on three of our estates in the past year.

If you are plagued with others leaving their rubbish near your home, then take notes – if you see a strange van drive round the back of your property, take the registration

DO NOT PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER

do not confront anyone you suspect. Give the details to Woughton Community Council or Milton Keynes Council. The chances are these people may be known to Enforcement officers and this could be the evidence they need.

SPRING 2017 WOUGHTON GAZETTE 11 LANDSCAPING SAFE IN WOUGHTON

Have you seen our tiger?

The mowing season has started, so the guys will be ‘full out’ trying to keep our green areas neat and tidy – give them a wave!

Woughton Community Council will continue to provide the main landscape maintenance service for at least another year following a full review of the service. There will be no cuts to the service either, unlike other areas in Milton Keynes where service specifications are being reduced. For example, elsewhere in Milton Keynes the number of grass cuts will go down to 10 a year, whilst it will remain at 12 in Woughton. Woughton Community Council is one of only five Parish Councils providing the landscape maintenance service and the only one in the city to do so through a directly employed workforce. The Community Council employs a team of five employees to provide the service, which applies to all the open spaces on our estates excluding the maintenance of large trees.
