Lincs Cross Country Vets get fifth in battle with Boston

London rd Louth, was the setting for the last of the four race series, in the Lincs league Cross Coun- try. With Lincoln Wellington , clear leaders. And Nene Valley battling it out with Louth for second place. Wolds Vet's where lying 5th with 118 points Lincoln W (B) fourth with 75 points, and Bos- ton just behind us with 125 points. With three out of the four matches counting. Boston where field- ing a strong team . Jose Ferreira taking fifth and Chris Rainbow eighth, Boston where close to over- turning W Vets, but with strength in depth, with a strong ten man squad, the vets fought back, with 14th Pete Hutchinson 15th Chris Bromfield 17th Dave Wilson, Dave had an outstanding run , piping his vets team mate Paul Freeman 20th to the last A team spot, and clinching a victory over Boston by 1 point. As Dennis Rainbow for Boston came home 27th, Making Paul’s 20th place crucial for Wold Vet’s . So a big reminder to us all, the beauty of cross country is, you don't have to make the team to make a difference. And with new vets member Ian Martinson 28th , John Green 32nd, Nick Aisthorpe 43rd, Martin Clark 58th, Bill Ward 67th, and Maurice Foxon 74th , there was a good splattering of Gold and Black in the field. Many thanks to all who supported the Lincs league this Keep on year. And for those who may be tempted next year you really will make a difference running Wolds Vets B 15th in front of Boston B B and str B. Not bad for a vets club
