The roots of Imereti viniculture tradition can be traced back to the times of the legendary Kolkhida. The region has its own unique technology of wine-producing. Imereti is known for wines such as Gelati (white), Argveti (port), Tsitska (white) and other less known wines. Krakhuna is considered to be the most “Imeretian” wine. Generally, Imereti wines are not as strong as wines in and tend to be less sweet. It is difficult to find Imereti wines since they are rarely sold. Qvevri production in Imereti: Today, most qvevri craftsmen work in Imereti.
