Prerequisites of becoming an Open Water Scuba Instructor are as follows: • Be certified as a PADI or a PADI Assistant Instructor or be an Instructor in good standing with another training organization for at least six months

• Be certified as an Emergency First Response Instructor

• Be at least 18 years old

• Be certified as a diver for at least six months

• Have 60 logged dives that include experience in night, deep, and navigation diving to participate in the Instructor Development Course. You’ll need 100 logged dives to take the Instructor Exams

• Have proof of CPR and training within the last 24 months. The EFR course meets this requirement

• Be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement (PDF) signed by a physician within the last 12 months

• Be familiar with the most PADI Instructor Manual (Dive Magic Prerequisite)

I have included the breakdown on the costs of the course. The IDC is broken into two parts: eLearning and live presentations. The live is a minimum of 5 days, where I like to make it 7 to give you more time and hopefully make it less stressful. The eLearning portion of $375.00 directly to PADI (non-refundable and we can help set it up for you) and then for the rest of the IDC would be $1,200.00 to Dive Magic (includes the Dive Theory Online). This does not include the price of the materials or the Instructor Examination portion. If you are not yet an Emergency First Response Instructor then you will also need to attend that course, with Dive Magic, and the price is $650.00 which includes book materials, ($334.20 value). This price does NOT include the Application Fee for the EFRI which is $115.00*. The Registration fee for the Instructor Examination is $169.00* and the Application fee for the Instructor Examination is $675.00* which will be paid directly to PADI on the day of the IE. The IDC materials are $643.75 plus tax for the IDC Crew-Pak w/Guide to Teaching Manual and IE Exam Decal (Retail is $958.60). If you do not have the most CURRENT Instructor Manual and are in Teaching Status you can download it off the PADI Pro Site.

**These prices are for 2017, prices may go up for 2018 on materials and examination fees (PADI products).
