HIGHBURY PARK, N5 1GF £750,000

A two bedroom apartment in the coveted front building of The Loxfords. Built in the 1850’s in a Regency style, this magnificent building was home to the Dents, a famous glove making family until it became the headquarters of the National Children’s Home for 75 years. The building was sympathetically converted as the flagship of the Loxfords development, so is a perfect blend of period and modern. The communal areas are immaculately maintained, and on the top floor to the rear of the building, this unique apartment is well isolated from disturbance, whilst offering easy access to plentiful transport links and an array of amenities on Barn, and nearby Upper Street in .

INSIDER’S GUIDE - a perspective from the present owner

Walking into the Loxfords is a lovely feeling, especially when the trees at the front are in blossom - they look spectacular against the cream frontage of the old house. We will miss the wonderful concierge team who can’t do enough to help, lending a hand with anything from moving boxes, to letting the cleaners in, even catching a spider for me once when Ben was away on work. Inside the flat is quiet and cosy; it’s like a little oasis. We never hear the downstairs neighbours, and the opposite neighbours use the flat as a second home, so they are rarely around. We feel like we have the whole building to ourselves. It’s also nice to be on the top floor with treetop views out of some windows and spectacular sunsets over out of others. Transport is super easy, with buses from Angel dropping you right outside and Highbury & Islington and Arsenal tubes both very close, taking you into central London within 20 minutes. I commute from Highbury & Islington and it’s a lovely walk through leafy Highbury Fields every morning to get to the tube. At the weekend we like to go for the delicious brunch at Highbury Arts Club, just next door. You are spoilt for choice in Highbury Barn for amazing produce and friendly shopkeepers, with brilliant fishmongers, butchers, greengrocer, deli and the famous Fromagerie all on your doorstep. For a good walk and some greenery, Highbury Fields and are both just a short stroll away. We also enjoy the shopping on Upper Street and the coffee, cocktails and numerous pubs on Stoke Newington Church Street.
