The Spirit traveled across the border to Windsor Thursday night to take on the . After an early goal from , the Spirit offense stalled failing to score again. The Spits came back to win, 4-1.

EVENTS IN THE COMMUNITY

On Tuesday, February 28th Saginaw Spirit Players; #21 Hayden Davis, #9 Brady G ilmour, and #49 Cole Coskey visited Arrowwood Elementary School to discuss the importance of commitment on and off the ice. We would like to send a special thank you to Walmart for participating in the Saginaw Spirit Adopt-a-School Program connecting the Saginaw Spirit Team to local schools.

On Wednesday, March 1st Saginaw Spirit Players; #77 Jesse Barwell and #5 Marcus Crawford visited Arthur Eddy Academy in Saginaw. Students had the opportunity to learn about the game of hockey, Canada, and the two players. A special thank you to Dr. John Llewellyn & Dr. Duane Heilbronn for participating in the Saginaw Spirit Adopt-a- School Program connecting the Saginaw Spirit Team to local schools.

#KnowYourSpirit: It's your region and your team, and Garber Chevrolet of Midland wants you to know your Spirit! Saginaw Spirit, forward #96 Damien Giroux was drafted by the Saginaw Spirit as the 44th overall pick in the 2016 OHL Draft. The now 16 Year old, will turn 17 Years old this Friday, March 3rd, has played in total of 45 games this year and has recorded 7 goals and 16 assists so far this season for the Spirit. The Dow Event Center is Damien's favorite arena in the OHL to play at; but recently had a surreal experience while playing and scoring in his hometown of Sudbury for the first time in his OHL career in front of hundreds of friends and family.

NEXTEER AUTOMOTIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

#71 . The Red Wings prospect recorded 6 points this past week with 1 goal and 5 assists. The Czech Republic native has played in a total of 51 games in the Saginaw Spirit uniform putting up a total of 52 points so far this season. Filip was drafted by the Saginaw Spirit in the 2016 CHL Import draft as the 14th overall pick and by the in the 2016 NHL Draft as the 53rd overall pick.

Corporate Partner of the Week: Rescue Ministries of Mid Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan The Saginaw Spirit and the Spirit Foundation have been an amazing partner to Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan. They have provided a platform to help raise awareness of the need of the homeless in our community, introduced us to new partners, and in the five years of our partnership, they have helped us raise $125,910 which equates to over 4,200 nights of shelter to help provide a place of hope and care for the homeless and hurting in our community. So when you attend a Spirit Hockey game, not only are you getting a family fun-filled evening of entertainment, you know that you are also helping sustain a network of care within our region."
