THE CITY AND THE VENUE

n BUCHAREST: A MODERN CITY WITH A GREAT HISTORY

Bucharest, the capital of Romania is also its social, economic and cultural centre. It is located in the southeast of the country and lies on the banks of the Dâmboviţa river.

In recent years, Romania’s largest city has been experiencing an economic and cultural boom. It is today a bustling metropolis. Bucharest is laden with historical charm - from the streets of the old city centre, which are slowly being restored, to the grand architecture of the Royal Palace and the fashionable garden and parks.

The city is also recognised as a European Cultural Capital. Bucharest boasts a staggering 37 museums, 22 theatres, the Bucharest National opera House, and 18 art galleries. Once deemed “Little Paris,” Romania’s reputation for architectural elegance and rich cultural history continues today in its tree-lined boulevards, glorious Belle Époque buildings and reputation for high society. n THE PALACE OF THE PARLIAMENT: A UNIQUE VENUE

Right in the historical and geographical centre of Bucharest, overlooking Unirii Boulevard, stands the International Conference Center, Palace of the Romanian Parliament, which is, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, the world’s largest civilian administrative building. Built in the mid ‘80s, this significant multi-purpose structure hosts today the Chamber of Deputies, the Constitutional Court and the Legislative Council, and has consequently become a symbol of the Romanian democracy. Eclectic in style, it brings together elements of multiple styles: traditional and Romanian popular ornamental art (such as the rosette). All this will contribute to making the 2011 AEGPL Congress a unique and successful event! 1 AEGPL CONGRESS Bucharest 22nd - 24th June 2011

THE 2011 AEGPL CONGRESS: ENERGY FOR THE EUROPEAN VILLAGE

The AEGPL Congress is the LPG event of the year for the European industry. Drawing key industry leaders and policy-makers from Europe and beyond, the AEGPL Congress is an exceptional event which will highlight key opportunities and challenges facing the LPG sector in a rapidly changing European energy context.

This event will offer the opportunity to all participants to exchange knowledge and experiences on the latest developments and applications of LPG. Informative presentations, lively debates and constructive discussions will also contribute to making the 2011 AEGPL Congress an event not to be missed.

Alongside the conference, the AEGPL exhibition will provide all delegates and visitors with the opportunity to see the latest products and services available in relation to the production, storage, transport, distribution, and installation of LPG.

The exhibition will be open from Wednesday 22nd June 2011 at 9:00am until Friday 24th June 2011 at 1:00pm.

A welcome reception will take place in the exhibition on Wednesday 22nd June from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

AEGPL – THE LPG INDUSTRY’S VOICE IN EUROPE

AEGPL is a dynamic platform providing a forum for the sharing of expertise developed by LPG operators from all across Europe. This exchange of experiences generates innovative proposals and action plans, contributing to the energy policy objectives of national and European authorities.

AEGPL’s overriding goal is to stimulate the creation of an appropriate legal framework applicable to the European LPG industry in order to develop the contribution of LPG as a sustainable energy beneficial for society as a whole.

AEGPL is comprised of national LPG associations, representing the main European LPG suppliers, distributors and equipment manufacturers. The structure is designed to facilitate the active participation of members in both the strategic objectives of the association and the corresponding input into the legislative process. For this latter task, the specialised working groups - composed of industry experts - are of particular importance.

In order to ensure its participation in the promotion of LPG at the international level, AEGPL cooperates closely with the World LPG Association.

For more information on membership of AEGPL and corresponding benefits, please contact:

2 AEGPL CONGRESS Bucharest 22nd - 24th June 2011

WELCOME REMARKS By the President of AEGPL

It gives me great pleasure to welcome the LPG industry to Bucharest for the 2011 AEGPL Congress. It is a particular honour for me as this is the first Congress to take place since taking over as President of AEGPL. This AEGPL Congress is also special this year as it is breaking into new territory – it is the first time that the event has been held in south-eastern Europe. As the EU has now expanded to 27 Member States, and will doubtless increase even more in the near future, it is only fitting that the industry’s keynote event takes place in this part of the continent. Romania and other countries in the region offer enormous opportunities for the LPG industry, and I would especially like to welcome delegates from non-EU countries who are perhaps attending the AEGPL Congress for the first time. I believe that there has never been a better opportunity for networking and exchanging experiences with colleagues from all across Europe and beyond. The theme chosen for this year’s Congress is “LPG: Energy for the European Village”. This theme refers to two distinct ideas. Firstly, as the EU and, in fact, non-EU countries, continue to integrate both economically and politically, we see more convergence of standards, and more closeness across the continent than ever before. The effect of the single market in Europe is continuing to widen and deepen, and although different countries of course retain their individual identities, there has never been more that we can learn from one another. Secondly, 2011 sees the launch of AEGPL’s latest Roadmap. This new Roadmap is titled “Beyond the Grid” and covers applications of LPG in domestic or “off-mains” environments – often in many of Europe’s thousands of villages. I strongly believe that this third Roadmap can help to shape the European LPG industry by not only giving a stronger identity to our sector and our product but also detailing the precise advantages that Europe will gain if LPG is used to its full potential. After the success of the Autogas Roadmap launched in 2008, which has been used extensively by AEGPL members across the continent and has also been reflected in European transport strategy, I hope that the Beyond the Grid Roadmap can have a similar effect for domestic LPG. I believe that this year’s event will be an enormous success and will see participants from more countries than ever before. On behalf of AEGPL, I welcome you all to the 2011 AEGPL Congress and look forward to seeing you in Bucharest in June!

Joël Pedessac President of the European LPG Association

MESSAGE FROM THE ROMANIAN LPG ASSOCIATION

It is a great honour for Romania and the Romanian LPG Association to welcome the AEGPL Congress to Bucharest. The Congress is the key annual event for the LPG industry, offering unparalleled opportunities for building business relationships with key people from all parts of the sector and indeed all parts of Europe and beyond. As Europe and the world continue to look for solutions to energy challenges, I believe the LPG industry should continue to do its best to make sure that our product is exploited to its full potential. In Eastern Europe as a whole, Autogas continues to show strong growth in many countries, and there are many areas where there are opportunities to increase LPG’s use in domestic situations – a key topic for this year’s Congress. We hope that for all visitors, both those who are here for the first time and those returning, the Congress will offer not only the opportunity to meet new people and make new connections, but also to experience what Bucharest and Romania have to offer. Once again, I welcome all participants to Bucharest, and wish you a successful and enjoyable AEGPL Congress!

Veron Toma President of ARGPL 3 AEGPL CONGRESS Bucharest 22nd - 24th June 2011
