2020 Eastern Conference Tour | Information Sheet Australian Ice Hockey Tours 2020 NHL Eastern Conference Tour Information Paper 2020 Eastern Conference Tour | Information Sheet Overview Welcome, AIHT, is a wholly owned subsidiary of ‘The Melbourne Ice Limited’ and is again partnering with Escorted Tours to present an annual end of year International Tour to be known as the “2020 NHL Eastern Conference Tour”. This tour follows our two previous annual tours to; ➢ 2018: Sweden SHL Tour ➢ 2019: NHL Western Conference Tour This paper provides an information sheet to all prospective travelers before registering their interest on https://aiht.com.au/2020-registration. Fans of the AIHL The tour has been designed to appeal to all AIHL and NHL fans, not just those in Melbourne. This year we look forward to meeting new friends and travelers from all clubs and states. As an extra feature, all travelers will be offered 2020 Membership to their favorite AIHL club as part of their tour package. Tour Overview This year we will be embarking on our biggest ever tour yet covering: ➢ 14 Days Away December 27, 2019 until January 9, 2020. ➢ 12 Nights Stay 3-5 Star accommodation in each city, including breakfast [twin, share, triple]. ➢ Return Flights Air Canada from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide. ➢ 5 Cities Toronto, Buffalo, Ottawa, Montreal and finally in New York. ➢ 5 NHL Games 10 unique teams across all cities. ➢ 5 Attractions NHL Hall of Fame, Niagara Falls, Rideau Canal Skate + two more. ➢ Coach Travel We will have a dedicated Luxury Coach from Toronto to New York. and of course ➢ Chaperoned At every step of the tour to help co-ordinate the group. Yes, the prices include departures from either Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide or Brisbane. Can we take our children? Yes, absolutely, last year we had 3-4 children under 15, they had a great time. Please check with the Tour Director for specific prices that may include better use of hotel rooms etc. Can I extend the stay in the USA? Yes, our tickets allow for additional days and stays as long as you enter to Toronto and exit via New York. These variations must be booked in advance through the Tour Director by October 1, 2019. How much will I need to take as spending money? While most of the costs are covered you will have to cover lunch and dinner on most days, optional extras, and any shopping you may wish to get in Canada and the USA. Note : You will also need to secure travel insurance in order to participate on the tour. This can be arranged by the Tour Director. What Clothing should we take? General: This is the coldest time of the year in Canada and we should be prepared for 0-10% wherever we go so rug up with plenty of layers and jackets. Games: We love to see our travelers in AIHL Jerseys, but anything warm is fine. Travelling: Tracksuits and other comfortable casual wear. Who will manage the tour on the ground? The tour is fully chaperoned by a Tour Guide and a Director. We will be there to help you with check- ins, ticketing and logistics ion a daily basis. Will we get time to go see the sights and go shopping? Yes, we have at least 5 free days and nights as we travel around each of the five cities. Register your interest. Matters Arising: No matters arising from the Minutes from the 2016 AGM. President’s Report: The President, Steve Ransome, read his report for the year. The report was made available for members in the 2017 IHNSW Annual Report provided during the meeting. For the first time in a few years the total number of players decreased slightly. The number of younger Junior players increased, partly offsetting fewer senior B players. For the 2017 Winter season IHNSW 64 teams played around 700 games across 6 rinks. Growth in player numbers, particularly Juniors is a critically important objective that impacts player development, club and rink financial stability and the ability of IHNSW to support our coach, official and player development programs.
