The US is 2nd in the world for renewable energy capacity due to state government action.
In Germany, which has a national target of Four Australian states and territories - ACT, 40-45% renewable electricity by 2025 (and South Australia, Queensland and Victoria had already reached 28% in 2014), two states - have higher renewable electricity targets - Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Schleswig- than the federal government (Climate Holstein, with a combined population of Council 2016; Table 1; Figure 2). over 4 million people - are already producing more than 100% renewable electricity (producing more power than consumed) (Clean Technica 2016).
