EMMITT SMITH Emmitt James Smith III (born May 15, ) is a former college and professional American football running back who became the National Football League's. It didn't matter to me what position I played; I just loved being out there. He had my size, he was my build. In , he missed all of training camp and the first 2 regular season games. You can start with his mother, Mary, and her influence relative to setting goals and work ethic. Thank you both for the invaluable contributions you have made to my life. Without you there is no me. This article was most recently revised and updated by Amy Tikkanen , Corrections Manager. Because what you have been able to do for my family and me throughout my football career and to this day, thank you so much. He also clinched the first of four rushing titles, after tallying yards against the Atlanta Falcons in the season finale. The next season saw Smith led the league with 21 rushing touchdowns, a new career-high despite battling a hamstring pull late in the season. You made it very clear to me that the football was the most important thing on the football field. So maybe more athletes have to go out and show the world that we know how to run a company too. He also became the first player to win the league's rushing title and the Super Bowl in the same season. In addition to the acknowledgments I am privileged to make today, this moment creates a unique opportunity, an opportunity to share critical life principles. He's not fast. On October 31, his rushing yards against the Philadelphia Eagles set the single-season franchise record. He followed that season by rushing for a league-leading 1, yards. He also added receptions for 3, yards and 11 touchdowns. And you know what, I am, I am, I am now the all-time leading rusher smiling. Now I need to take a moment to reflect upon the people who have helped shape the foundation of who I am as a man and also a football player. My father's words supported me. Most NFL owners today have never really played the sport. There was one other big playmaker on the field: running back Emmitt Smith. It has truly, truly, truly been an honor to go into battle with two of the greatest champions I've ever played with. The Cowboys lost both contests with rookie Derrick Lassic running in his place. That closed the door to score that touchdown..

The question no longer is whether Romo can duplicate the success he had just two years ago when he led the Dallas Cowboys to 12 wins and the NFC East title. Rather, people wonder if can stay healthy to play at all. Romo missed 12 games in 2015 after he broke his left collarbone twice. He begins this year on the sideline after suffering a back injury in the presea- son. The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback is clearly on the decline. Here are other players who could trend downward in 2016: Jason Peters, LT, Eagles: He’s an eight-time Pro Bowl pick and two-time All-Pro who has missed only two games in the past three seasons. But the 34-year-old Peters isn’t the dominant blocker he used to be. He has 18 penalties and 12 sacks allowed over the last two seasons. Chris Johnson, RB, Cardinals: Johnson was on his way to his sev- enth 1,000-yard season in eight years before getting hurt last sea- son. He ran for 814 yards in 11 games. His injury gave David Johnson an opportunity to play more and he was dynamic. The Cardinals are in good hands with either Johnson, but expect David to get the ball more than Chris. Demaryius Thomas, WR, Broncos: Thomas had 105 catches for 1,304 yards and six TDs in 2015 despite Peyton Manning’s rapid decline.
