Finextra also took up Finland’s membership in the European Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB). T The guarantee of origin register is used to issue, transfer, cancel and annul certificates of renewable energy and the efficient joint production of electricity. Guarantees of origin are also transferred in digital format from the register to other countries’ registers via the Hub, which is administrated by AIB. In addition to guarantees of origin for electricity, Finextra also issues the EKOenergia additional product symbol. Finextra’s guarantees of origin register contains 31 account holders. Approximately 270 power plants with a combined power of 7,400 megawatts are connected to the register. Of this, around 40 per cent is hydropower, just under 10 per cent is wind power, and approximately 50 per cent is other renewable energy. The register was implemented by Solita Oy, who is also responsible for maintenance and user support.
