Our Mystery guest entertained us well. Sending us anonymously off into the darkness, torches at the ready. Special visitors tonight , ‘Shortcutter’ aka Samson and his wife Sandra just flew in from Nigeria to join us for the evening. That’s the way to live. Wearing his Timberland boots as well, designer boy ! Ruth, Louise, Belinda, Linda, Simon’s wife Charlotte, the ladies were back en masse tonight. Our journey not surprisingly took in some lovely long stretches of the River Wey Navigation canal, ending in a clever cut back over Parvis Bridge next to Parvis Wharf. The last remaining rural wharf on the river Wey, dating back to 1775, at least. Our Christmas festivites started early with a mass exodus, no pub tonight, but off to The Indian restaurant – Rajput where they kindly laid on a set price starter and main course for just £10.50 per head. We had to wait ages, but it was all delicious !!! When asked by a waiter ‘What would you like on the menu ? Sandra said …..Something I can eat ! Rajput…70, High Road, Byfleet, recommended by us Hashers…..good beers too, Bangla being the best then Cobra. See you soon.

1547 Spanish Mistress & @ Their House 17/12/2013 Mark

Well, this was a slushpuppie for the hardy Weybridge Hashers, and many souls chose to brave it. A cold, dark, dank Winter’s night, by the riverside awaited us but we got on with it. Sloshing across Golf Club to start and then slip sliding off round little lakes and ponds, before we followed a clever trail all the way into Chertsey town centre and back out again. Much mud was crossed, and the rain kept coming. Great credit to Louise, Worzel & Calamity who arrived late, but due to Hares laying excellent flour everywhere, they managed to catch us up, bravo !! Afters was a delight, a hot wood burning stove warmed our tootsies, and the mulled wine warmed everything else in Mark & Linda’s lovely riverside home, with their normal convivial hospitality !! Fabulous food, cheeses, mince pies and the delicious wine soothed our soaked bodies to the core. The way to live…….THANKYOU to you BOTH & MERRY CHRISTMAS !

1549 Pig Pen @ The Wheatsheaf, Horsell 23/12/2013

Only five braves soles took on the challenge for Pig Pen’s trail in Horsell. Scuba gear would have been more appropriate than running shoes with a storm of biblical proportions in full flow. Flooded rivers, torrents or water and branches impeded our way around the course as blobs of flour became washed out (like those following it). We all hoped Santa would make it through the foul weather as we had all been very good! Eventually most managed to get back on trail. Like moths to a light the pub was a beacon of hope as the Christmas spirit was fading fast. Jolliness was restored with a few pints and dry clothes. Ho ho ho.
