4 The Bill Yeoman Field House The Yeoman Field House has been the annual site for the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championship since 2003, and and a total of seven C-USA Indoor Track and Field Championship overall. The complex opened in 1996 with a world-class indoor track and field meet "The Gallery Furniture Games" which attracted nearly 5.()00 fans as well as a "Who's Who" list of track and field professionals from across the nation. Following the meet, the new complex received high praise from the competitors and spectators alike. Since then, the Yeoman Field House has been the home for Hous• ton's track and field teams, who train throughout the winter months in the spacious and comfortable facility. The six-lane, NCAA competition track is made of Mondo, widely regarded as the fastest surface in the world. It features lanes and jump runways on both sides, with a pole vault runway, a high jump area and a throwing area inside the infield. Following the 1999 season, the track was resurfaced, and in 2003 a new state-of-the-art scoreboard was added. Adjacent sport courts provide ample space for sports medicine per• sonnel and stretching areas and Houston's adjacent outdoor track provides ample warm-up space. The facility also has bleachers provide seating for approximately 1,000 fans.
