Tournament Management Rochester, Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission Proposal to Host: 2013 National Collegiate Table Tennis Association National Championships April 11-14, 2013 Prepared by: John Larsen Sports Sales Manager & Ben Boldt Event Operations Manager Rochester Amateur Sports Commission In Partnership with the Rochester Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Rochester, MN Rochester, Minnesota The Rochester Amateur Sports Commission, the Rochester Convention & Visitors Bureau and the city of Rochester would like to invite the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association to host the 2013 National Championships at the University Center Field House in Rochester, Minnesota. Currently Minnesota’s third largest and fastest growing city, Rochester has been recognized several times by Money Magazine as one of the country’s most livable communities. Home of the world renowned Mayo Clinic, Rochester provides a safe, clean and enjoyable city for its visitors. Rochester is also the home of the Rochester Amateur Sports Commission (RASC), a leader in hosting major state, regional and national sporting events in Rochester since 1991. The RASC focuses on assuring the athletes and their fans have a great experience in Rochester. The RASC believes strongly that its many years of working with all types of events and a dedicated commitment from the Rochester Table Tennis Club are the perfect team to work with the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association. Rochester Regional Sports Center Field House - Venue Information The Rochester Regional Sports Center Field House is a perfect venue for the 2013 NCTTA Championships. An arena with a seating capacity of 1600, all close to the action with great viewing, will create an exciting atmosphere for the players and fans. Located just five minutes from a large selection of quality hotels, it is very convenient for all. The facility has a multi-purpose sports court that can easily accommodate 16 table tennis courts. Rochester Hotel and Restaurant Information The Kahler Grand Hotel will again be the headquarters hotel. Please see the accompanying bid application for additional Kahler Grand proposal details. With over 165 restaurants to choose from visitors will find a selection ranging from local favorites Michael’s Steak House, Victoria’s Italian Restaurant and Roscoe’s Ribs to most of the national favorite chains, including T. G. I. Friday’s, Olive Garden, Red Lobster and many more. Rochester has a full-time Sports Commission staff. Rochester has one of the most well established Sports Commissions in the country. RASC was formed in 1991 to host the 1992 AAU Junior Olympics. Since then, the Rochester Amateur Sports Commission has served as host of numerous local, regional, state national and international events. Currently, Rochester has five full time employees. The RASC goes the extra mile to ensure teams and families have a positive experience. After events, surveys are sent to coaches, teams, players and family members requesting feedback. This feedback assists in educating the staff on what matters to the teams and helps the RASC to continue to be the best it can be when hosting events. Fact Sheet The U.S. Olympic Complex in Colorado Springs is the headquarters for the U.S. Olympic Committee administration and the U.S. Olympic Training Center programs. Training Center Overview Currently, there are nine National Governing Bodies that have their national sport headquarters on the Complex, as well as U.S. Paralympics. The U.S. Olympic Complex, former home of ENT Air Force Base and headquarters of the North American Defense Command, officially became the USOC administrative headquarters in July 1978. In October 1996 and April 1997, the USOC officially dedicated and opened its new $23.8 million, Phase II facilities, which include: a state-of-the-art sports medicine and sport science center and an athlete center, which houses a dining hall and two residence halls. The USOC is able to provide housing, dining, recreational facilities and other services for up to 557 coaches and athletes at one time on the Complex. Facilities Aquatics Center The Aquatics Center is 45,000 square feet and contains a 50x25-meter swimming pool, two meters deep at the ends and three meters deep in the center.

Downtown Stadium The downtown stadium will be located at the CityGate property bordered by Cimarron to the North, Moreno to the South, Sierra Madre to the West and Sahwatch to the east. The facility will be a mixed-use development which will feature a rectangular field of play and will serve as the permanent home of the Colorado Springs Switchbacks. The stadium, containing 10,000 spectator seats for sporting events, will be a multi-use facility that can accommodate a wide variety of sporting and entertainment events.
