As an observational stand up Ed Byrne is unrivalled. Notching two decades of standup with a Perrier nomination, multiple appearances on Conan and The Graham Norton Show and 2006’s biggest selling performance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with Standing Up and Falling Down, the Irishman hit a new high in 2011 – a win for Best Supporting Actor at the Monaco International Festival of Non‐Violent Film, ‘probably the most obscure acting award in show business’. Since gaining infamy for his notorious slamming of Alanis Morissette and her hit single Ironic, Ed Byrne has transcended his controversial beginnings to become ‘comedy’s Holy Grail, selling out tours and residencies to far reaching audiences in the UK, France, Singapore and Bermuda. Renowned for his artisan‐like approach to observational standup, and ‘coming out’ as a nerd in the Crowd Pleaser DVD, Byrne proved he can physically deliver the gags with a gut‐punch funny turn as Billy Elliot in the BBC’s Let’s Dance For Comic Relief. Comedy Holy Grail! Go See! The Sunday Times Ed has performed hit UK tours and West End solo runs and developed huge success on the international circuit where he has performed to capacity audiences in Montreal (Just For Laughs festivals), Canada (Just For Laughs tours), Ireland, Paris, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, Belgium and New Zealand. In the USA Ed has performed at the US Comedy Arts Festival (Aspen), plus top comedy clubs in New York and LA. “Hilarious…I assure you Ed Byrne is one comedian you should definitely see” Edinburgh Festival’s Magazine. To date his films include, RAT where he plays a supporting role of Rudolph, a cameo in I Could Never Be Your Woman, a co‐lead role in Are You Ready For Love a cameo role in Don’t Let Me Die With That Look (prod/writer Chris Purnell) and the lead role in Zemanovaload. Ed has also made some sparkling appearances on Mock The Week, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Graham Norton’s Bigger Picture, Have I Got News For You, The Graham Norton Show, The Bubble and Live At The Apollo. Recently Ed has broken into Factual broadcasting and has been seen on BBC Two’s Volcano Live (2012) VT presenting and also on BBC Two’s Dangerous Roads where he spent 2 weeks driving through Siberia! On top of all of this Ed performs stand up at a huge amount of corporate events (hosting awards show or after dinner stand up) and was well known as the voice of The Carphone Warehouse on both their radio and TV commercials (2001‐2008).
