50 YEARS OF THE WORLD CUP IN VAL GARDENA Saslong Classic Club Gardena - Gröden PRINOTH HISTORY DAYS

INDUSTRIAL HISTORY AT THE FEET OF THE LANGKOFEL The beginnings of PRINOTH take us back to Val Gardena, in 1951 when race car driver Ernst Prinoth opened a car repair shop. Fascinated by snow vehicles and a passionate inventor and grease monkey, he started designing snow groomers, building the P 60 prototype in 1962. Two years later, the first series of vehicles went into production. Production met a huge success - the rest is history and runs under the title of technological leadership. The rise of the Dolomites as a skiing destination runs almost parallel with Ernst Prinoth‘s success story: the first ski lifts were built by visionaries and the first downhill race on the legendary Saslong slope was held in Val Gardena in the winter of 1968-69. The winner was Swiss athlete Jean-Daniel Dätwyler. You could almost say that PRINOTH paved the way for him to the finish line.

50 YEARS OF THE WORLD CUP: A TRIBUTE TO THE SASLONG The year before, in 1967, the Alpine Ski World Cup was held and its fiftieth anniversary will be celebrated in 2017 on the Saslong slope. Much has changed since then and the mighty Langkofel stands today as a silent witness in the middle of a ski carousel of excited skiers who race down the slopes during the day and experienced snow groomer operators who drive up the slopes by night. The celebrations are centered on the exciting history of the period spanning from 1967 to 2017 and will see their climax during the 50th anniversary show that will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017. Those who can‘t be there for the live show can book a seat on their living room couch at 6:00 p.m. since almost the entire event will be broadcast on TV. And those who still will miss it can browse through the photo book released for the occasion and view the new PRINOTH history movie. It is almost as inter- esting as seeing the rare PRINOTH old-timers on site and stumbling into the party crowd.

WELCOME TO FLORIAN STREITER! MOTTO: CUSTOMERS FIRST

Since the end of June 2017, Florian Streiter is the Chief Sales & Marketing Officer at PRINOTH and responsible for the international distribution of snow groomers as well as marketing for all three business units. He replaces Oskar Schenk.

“PRINOTH is a fantastic company with strong roots and unique and innovative prod- ucts. An authentic brand with so much character. This allows me to identify myself with it 100%!“ says Florian Streiter about his new challenge.

Florian Streiter has built his career away from the slopes. At his previous employer SWAROVSKI, he gained 11 years of experience in an international environment with strong competition in the sales and marketing areas. “I know what counts for customers today!” says Streiter.

But deep down, his heart has deep affinity for the mountains and snow. “I come from Tyrol and so I grew up surrounded by the mountains and winter sports. I like to ski and have a special relationship with skiing thanks to my affinity for winter technologies,” adds Streiter.

We look forward to working with you and to our future together!

NEW ZEALAND PRINOTH ACROSS THE WORLD

SUCCESS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD Success patterns work everywhere when similar conditions occur. In the case of our PRINOTH snow groomers, these conditions are, of course, snow as well as a suitable terrain in need to be groomed. So, the success story which started in the Alps is now spreading and gradually becoming the go-to brand also on other continents.

A FAR DESTINATION To reach New Zealand from the West, there is a distance of nearly 20,000 km as the crow flies. We are happy to say that our snow vehicles have now entered this far-away region and market.

HOW DID THE LEITWOLF MAKE IT TO NEW ZEALAND? One reason why we were able to start developing the New Zealand market is that PRINOTH has a great reputation. Other reasons include the merit of dynamic people like David Ratcliffe, our Sales Repre- sentative, and Corey Little, an experienced mechanic and expert on all kinds of engines and machines. With this reliable team of sales and service on site, we can ensure a process ranging from smooth import to trouble-free operation. We have a LEITWOLF winch (Stage IV/Tier 4 final) working at the Whakapapa on the northern island of New Zealand and a BISON X winch (it too Stage IV / Tier 4 final) grooming on the southern island. Snow and work - plenty of both to make sure our machines won’t get homesick!

HARBIN INDOOR SKI RESORT HUGE SKIING FUN

Anyone who has ever heard the name Harbin usually connects it to fairy-tale images of brightly colored ice sculptures reproducing an entire city made of houses with charming turrets, decorative ledges and glittering domes. Harbin, in northern China, is the hosting venue every year of a large ice festival with neon-colored, surreal palaces that are illuminated from the inside, and icy mythical creatures. The temperatures in Harbin can sometimes drop to minus 40° C.

THE WORLD’S LARGEST INDOOR SKI RESORT The booming city of Harbin, with over a million inhabitants, is not only famous for its ice works, but also for permanent architectural accomplishments, such as the world‘s largest indoor ski resort. The superbly designed complex hosts six ski runs of different skill lev- els, each measuring 484 m (1,588 ft) in length. It is a mega-project with state-of-the-art technologies in which the main priority was flawless operation for end-users.

A CLEAN JOB There are three PRINOTH snow groomers on the slopes of this futur- istic ski resort: EVEREST, BISON X and HUSKY. They are all perfectly suited for indoor use thanks to PRINOTH‘s hallmark compact design and maneuverability. The BISON X and HUSKY are especially low on emissions thanks to compliance with the new exhaust emission standard ”Tier 4 Final/Stage IV“. For this reason, they play a par- ticularly important role indoors. If you think that at peak times up to 1,500 skiers are skiing at the same time under a closed steel con- crete dome, slope maintenance demands are especially challenging. Technology leadership in China means great trust and we are proud to have earned the trust of the Wanda Harbin Indoor Ski Resort.

PRINOTHWORLD 2017 — PAGE 50 | 50 FOOD ON THE HILL! THE MOBILE KITCHEN FOR SKI SLOPES FOOD TRUCK

SNOWLICIOUS THEN AND NOW THE HISTORY OF FOOD TRUCKS

IN THE BEGINNING THERE WAS A COVERED WAGON Walter Scott was a pragmatic man who in 1972 had a simple yet bril- liant business idea which started an entire industry. He cut a window in his wagon and parked it in front of the offices of a small newspaper in Providence, the capital of the U.S. State of Rhode Island. Inside sat Scott, a shrewd salesman, who would offer sandwiches, cakes and coffee to the editors who had to work late in the evening. The first food truck was born. As the suburbs grew in the United States, so did the number of construction workers, gardeners and household aids. There was great demand for cheap meals in an environment where there were hardly any restaurants. The mobility and affordable prices of food trucks proved to be very critical success factors in this story.

THE GOURMET WAVE Who would have ever imagined that one day, food trucks would climb up the gourmet ladder? Between 2008 and 2012, food trucks had a real boom. Established chefs set out to serve quality food on the road without a whole restaurant and kitchen brigade behind them. Legend has it that the first gourmet food truck hit the road in L.A. The Kogi Truck, as it was called, belonged to Roy Choi and became famous for its excellent Korean BBQ. The day the Kogi Truck appeared on the streets of L.A. also changed the taste map of Americans.

FROM THE ROAD TO THE SNOW In 2015, Italian star chef Andrea Campi launched an entirely new concept that would bring the success of food trucks from the road to the snow. This led to a cooperation with PRINOTH with the aim of an unprecedented culinary experience using a snow groomer di- rectly on the ski hills. This marked the birth of SNOWLICIOUS, which meanwhile has become a staple at European ski resorts and since 2017, for the first time, also in North America where more and more customers and potential partners are warming up to the idea of a slopeside gourmet vehicle.

PRINOTHWORLD 2017 — PAGE 74 | 74 ACTION, FUN AND PLENTY OF HORSEPOWER AT THE PRINOTH CUP

With nearly 250 snow groomer operators from across Europe in attendance, PRINOTH celebrated the end of the season in style in Racines, Italy on April 6th and 7th, 2017.

“The season is drawing to a close. We are one big family, so let’s celebrate the end of the season together”. This sentiment, expressed by PRINOTH President Werner Amort at the opening of the PRINOTH Cup, sums up the unique spirit and cama- raderie within the branch. “We are living the passion for snow groomers, and that binds us together!” said Amort.

Regardless of whether a winter has been blessed with plenty of snow or not, every winter presents snow groomer operators with unique challenges and their skills and expertise must be up to the task. These are exactly the attributes put to the test during the PRINOTH Cup. Nearly 250 snow groomer operators from South Tyrol, Northern Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France and Slovakia rounded off their winter’s work with a friendly competition and the battle for the coveted trophy.

Fun was at the forefront throughout the proceedings and was palpable among competitors and spectators alike. The first game, “Swing the Tiller” was an all-or-nothing knockout round. Shifting the tiller of the LEITWOLF with parallel offset, competitors had an obstacle course of blue and red poles to run through while only touching with the finisher some blue poles and avoiding the red ones. Operators who were faster than their competitor moved on to the next round.

EAST & WEST

HOW DO I MAKE A GOOD PARK AN EVEN BETTER PARK? This was more or less the goal that participants had to tackle at the annual Cutter’s Camp, a must for North American snowpark professionals. There are two editions: Cutter‘s Camp East and Cutter‘s Camp West. Cutter‘s Camp West was held from May 16 to 20, 2017, and drew snow groomer operators, shapers and park managers from around North America to Timberline, Oregon (USA). Once again, PRINOTH was one of the main sponsors and pre- sented its park management competence with the BISON X. Equipped with the snow depth measurement system developed by Leica Geosystems, operators can see at a glance how deep the snow layer is and use snow in the park in an efficient and resource-saving way. The snow depth measurement system also supports operators in their work by providing 3D park modeling.

15 YEARS OF CUTTER‘S CAMP AND STILL GOING STRONG Plenty of exciting highlights were on the agenda in Timberline, including the kickoff demo with two BISON X vehicles and three experts from the PRINOTH X-team on May 16 to offer participants a chance to try snow groomers featuring Leica Geosystems technology. About 70 participants attended the theoretical and practical training sessions. PRINOTH’s presence was stronger than ever before.

PLENTY OF FUN AND ACTION PRINOTH sponsored the opening event, the so-called ”Fireside Chat“, where the ”campers“ were officially welcomed, and the evening event at Windell‘s, where the famous dodgeball tournament was held. The 15th anniversary of the Cutter‘s Camp was celebrated this year and people looking to develop even more skills can save the following dates: November 6 to 8, 2017, at Mount Snow, VT (USA) for Cutter‘s Camp East.

But the most important thing of all, from March 31 to April 10, 2017, once everyone arrived at the Rosa Khutor resort in Sochi, was Russia’s biggest sports and entertainment festival. Immediately after this high profile contest, SKATechno, PRINOTH’s Russian partner, or- ganized a workshop for snow groomer operators in the park area, held by PRINOTH X-team specialists. A different audience but with exactly the same excitement for something that is done with great passion. At this event from April 10 to 14, 2017, participants had the chance to become familiar with the new park snow groomers and share their experience. They practiced grooming a slope-style park, as was explained in the challenging briefing. And at the start, there was a BISON X, the number 1 in park building with mega perfor- mance plus mini emissions.

THE PRINOTH DNA FLEXIBLE DESIGN

Collaborating with partners to design and provide the best crawler carrier solution to suit any industry specific needs is part of PRINOTH’s DNA. The PRINOTH business model offers customers the flexibility to be imaginative and the ability to develop turn-key solutions that truly respond to their needs.

RESPONDING TO CUSTOMER NEEDS Our engineering team is constantly responding to market and customer demands. The most recent result of this effort is the T14R rotating dumper and a new vehicle offering over 13,200 kg (29,100 lb) of payload on rubber tracks. And let’s not forget all the other innovations we have provided our many customers over the years.

THE PANTHER LINE-UP PRINOTH developed its PANTHER line-up to offer vehicles with GVWRs ranging from 28,600 lb to 90,000 lb. All these solutions allow crane, aerial device and other equipment manufacturers to finish equipment installation quicker and, in turn, add the vehicles to their available fleet faster. PRINOTH was recently able to provide increased payload on the PANTHER T16 to accommodate the mounting of the Terex TM125. It is also worth mentioning that Terex, along with its dealers and partners such as Utility One Source, UCO, NESCO, James A. Kiley and Ring Power CAT in Florida had initially requested a new subframe on the bigger PANTHER models. As such, PRINOTH created a subframe to fit on the Rapid Attach Design (RAD) Chassis, which allows equipment manufacturers to quickly install their apparatus on a PANTHER T16, which was introduced at ICUEE in 2015.

2017 TRADESHOW PDAC & CONEXPO

Calendar year 2017 is undoubtedly a very busy tradeshow year for construction companies! PRINOTH is participating in almost 10 tradeshows to outline both its capabilities and best-in-class technology.

PDAC A key show for the tracked vehicles’ business unit is undeniably PDAC; the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada Tradeshow which was held in Toronto in March. A very strategic mining show, it is cru- cial to PRINOTH’s business development. “We really feel PDAC is a key event in our annual tradeshow calendar,” explained Alessandro Ferrari, VP of Sales at PRINOTH. He added: “We were extremely pleased with the quality of leads we collected at the show. It’s always an important one for us because it allows to connect with both drill manufacturers and get new exploration opportunities directly with mine owners and management teams.”

CONEXPO The mother of all tradeshows in the construction industry in North America is of course CONEXPO. For the first time, PRINOTH exhibited its PANTHER T14R Rotating Dumper. A PANTHER T6 equipped with a flatbed offering an increased payload as well as a PANTHER T8 out- fitted with a knuckle boom crane were showed along with 3 mulch heads from our Vegetation Management division. “We are thrilled with the buzz created at CONEXPO. Our booth was always busy and we met many very interesting potential partners from all over the world. Having such a specialized product, it is exciting to see that many people were seeking PRINOTH specifically and wanted to establish a relationship with us. You could definitely feel the rise in confidence in the construction industry all throughout the show,” commented Director of Sales, Doug Little.

PRINOTH MULCHERS DIVERSITY IS THE FUTURE

The right model for every excavator. With its new excavator attachments, PRINOTH covers the complete range from 6 to 25 tons. The M4 50E-900 mulcher for 6-12 tons and the M5 50e-1300 mulcher for 18-25 tons are the latest newcomers to the mulching range which can boast 25 years of experience and is always in step with the market‘s latest needs.

LIGHTWEIGHT The M4 50E-900 is the lightest excavator-mounted mulcher for 6-12 ton excavators. Thanks to the optimized weight, handling is a piece of cake. A built-in gear motor allows easy mounting on different excavators as well as a rapid change of carrier units, without having to install additional oil drain lines.

EXTREMELY STABLE IN OPERATION Since December 2016, the M450e-900 is in operation at Frank Rothmund, a service company in the earth-moving, underground engineering and construction sector, as well as the main- tenance of garden or outdoor installations. Frank Rothmund has mounted the M450e-900 on a 6-ton excavator for wood management in biotopes and along roadsides and hedges. “The stability of the M450e-900 is remarkable,“ enthuses Frank Rothmund. “Plus the mulcher has an extremely low weight. This makes it truly unique in its class.“

TO EACH ITS OWN The mid-range includes the M450e-1100 mulchers for use on 12-18-ton excavators and the FM500e for 18-23-ton excavators. The new M550e-1300 is the solution for heavy-duty jobs. This mulcher is designed for excavators in the 18-25-ton range. The power pack ensures top shredding quality thanks to the counter-blades and is reinforced with wear-resistant steel, even in critical points of the housing.

PRODUCTIVITY IS MAXIMUM The M550e-1300 is designed for heavy weights, while ensuring ease of use. It stands out for its optimal power transmission. For the ”numbers people“ in your company, this means: a positive impact on operating costs, because of productive work. Of course, flexible mount- ing on various carriers is also ensured with the M550e-1300. The universal plate can be applied on the left or right of the mulcher. An individual change is instantly possible.

WE CONTINUE TO WORK TIRELESSLY Thanks to the sophisticated technology, we can offer even lighter machines that stand out for their maximum stability. All new PRINOTH equipment can be operated both hydraulically and mechanically, therefore covering a wider range of applications. In the field of excavator mulchers, PRINOTH is engaged in completing its portfolio to be able to seamlessly equip excavators of six to 30 tons with mulchers. The new series is also bound to be a success with smaller tractors and skid steers in the construction equipment sector - of course, with the familiar AHWI quality and the ”Made in Germany” mark. With two new rotor concepts and a wide range of working widths, PRINOTH is securing its leadership for years to come.

SMÅLAND “SMALL LAND” THE LARGEST FORESTRY TRADE FAIR

Hej! Välkommen till Småland, a region of Sweden meaning ”Small Land“ and home of Pipi Longstocking’s author Astrid Lindgren. Her stories about Emil from Lönneberga and of the other characters she created have shaped the image that the people have of Småland for generations. In the modern business world, the region is well-known for being the birthplace of IKEA and also for a different reason closer to PRINOTH: this is where the world‘s largest forestry trade fair is held, on Sweden’s largest exhibition grounds.

NEWS & HIGH-TECH And the crowds are just as large! This year‘s edition of ELMIA Wood, held at the beginning of June, was yet another success, with over 41,000 visitors to the huge exhibition grounds located in Jönköping. All the innovations and high-tech devices or applications in the in- dustry were presented and some could even be tested directly on site. For instance, in the new ”Drone Zone“ section, practical demon- strations showed how drones can be used in forestry. A total of 555 exhibitors from 28 countries confirmed the reputation of ELMIA Wood as the world’s largest forestry technology event of the year. Together with our partner Owren, PRINOTH Vegetation Management presented the RAPTOR 300, the RFL700 clearing cutter, and the M550m-2100, M450e-900 and the new M550e-1300 mulchers. Plus, the PANTHER T14R - PRINOTH‘s rotating dumper tracked vehicle - made its debut.
