2018 LEAVENWORTH 92ND COUNTY FAIR UN FOR THE HOLE ERD FTuesday-Saturday ~ JULYW 24TH throughH JULY 28th! Leavenworth County Fairgrounds, Tonganoxie, KS www.leavenworthcountyfair.com WELCOME Another year has gone and we find ourselves ready for the Leavenworth County Fair to commence again!! The theme of the Fair this year is “Fun for the Whole Herd”. This year we do have something for every age. We kick off Fair week with the parade of course which is a favorite for all. Anyone interestedin horse power must attend the Draft Horse pull after the parade. The MKYRA Youth Rodeo kicks off our grandstand events on Wednesday evening, followed by Mutton Bustin’ contest and URA/MRCA Rodeoon Thursday evening. Friday brings out our greatest treasurers, the Senior Citizens of LV County! Senior day at the Fair is always well attended and you will always hear music and laughter coming from the Big Top Tent that afternoon. Plans are being made for a concert Friday evening in the Grandstand, get ready to kick the dust up and sing along. Saturday starts Mike Johnson, out early with the 4-H Open Horse show, which means anyone with a Purina Dealer Fair Board Association President horse, can enter! Feel like getting a little dirty? Come on up to the hill north of the fairgrounds and take in the Mud Run at noon. Maybe you shouldn’t wear white that day, but be prepared to see mud flying and vehicles of all types racing for the farthest and fastest time to beat. We have a new promoter this year with the Mud Run and they promise a great event. To close out the grandstand events Saturday night, the finalist of the Mutton Bustin’ competition will compete to see who will be the champion. If you have never watched a Mutton Bustin’ (this means riding on a sheep’sback), you don’t know what you are missing!! Immediately after a champion is chosen, the Bull Ridingevent will take place, (these riders are more daring) and you are sure to be on the edge of your seat watching the cowboys hang on for eight minutes to win the prize money. Along with these events, there are vendors to shop and hundreds of entries from crafts to livestock on display from the 4-H, FFA and Open class to look at. We have many talented people in our County and itis always a joy to look at the projects these entries bring to the Fair experi- ence. All ages and anyone from the County or surrounding counties may enter in the different divisions listed in this Fair guide. What is your creative passion or talent? We’d love to see it! Maybe you are like me and not a dare devil to ride bulls or drive fast, but still like to have a fun time, well the Carnival is the place for you! Arm band night is every night, which means you pay 94295 one price and you can ride any ride as much as you or your stomach can take. You may want to watch how much Fair food you eat before riding all those rides, but who can resist with the aroma of kettle corn, BBQ and other fried delicacies? Back again this year is Two Girls and a Zoo! These girls have some of the most interesting animals you would not normally see at a petting zoo, make sure you check them out too. As always the Fair is free to attend, parking is $4.00 and half of that money goes to local charities. Entry into the Grandstand & Mud Run events helps pay the winners and the promoters who bring these great events for your enjoyment. The LV County Fair Board works hard to keep *):<4-<< the fairgrounds a clean and safe place for this event and others held on the fairgrounds. You may notice some improvements around the grounds. If you have any interest in volunteering, we would love to have you or if you have a service you would be willing to donate we would love to speak to you also. /:)16+748 The County Fair has been and is the best place in the County to see people you may have not seen in ages! A family oriented event to share with your family and friends, and I hope to see you :Q^MZNZWV\:L)\KPQ[WV3;! at the Fair!! Have a safe and fun summer. ___JIZ\TM\\IVLKWKWU 7V[Q\MOZIQVJ]aMZ[ Mike Johnson, President IVLIKKW]V\IV\[ 6M`\LIa[M\\TMUMV\[ Leavenworth County Fair Association 913-845-3457 IVLKPMKS[ OFFICERS Terms Expire 2018 President Mike Johnson, Basehor Mark Heim Leavenworth ¹,W_VTWILW]ZNZMMIXX\WLIa º Vice President Mike Kissinger, Tonganoxie Dan Kell Leavenworth Treasurer Teresa Lee, Leavenworth Jamie Moore Tonganoxie Secretary Mark Heim, Leavenworth Andrew Breuer Lawrence :HRIIHUGDLO\JUDLQELGV Veterinarian Kyle LaRosh, Tonganoxie Glen Berry Leavenworth Jeff Potter Easton YLDHPDLODQGWH[WLQJ DIRECTORS Jane Turner Leavenworth 3OHDVHFRQWDFWRXU Terms Expire 2017 Ron Ewert Leavenworth Terms Expire 2019 RIILFHWREHDGGHGWRRXU Ian Leintz Lansing Teresa Lee Leavenworth Dick Olson Tonganoxie Dennis Eberth Basehor GLVWULEXWLRQOLVWV Mike Kissinger Tonganoxie Nancy McDougal Leavenworth Mike McKiddy Easton Willie Harris Tonganoxie Mike Johnson Bonner Springs Jeff Simpson Lansing 7ZQOQVI\QWV5IVIOMZd )KKW]V\IV\ 4]SM4I^QKSa ,QIVM*M[QVOMZ Nick Greenwood Bonner Springs Brandon Marshall Tonganoxie 3MZZa*ZWWSM0aLM<WU8NQ[\MZ/ZIQV7ZQOQVI\WZ Dan Yates Bonner Springs JULY 24TH - 30TH Page 3 MUFFLER and Butler’s AUTO REPAIR, LLC &AIR0RINCIPLES DOWNTOWN STORE ONLY ARE2ICHIN(ISTORY • Oil & Lube • Alignments • Tires • CatalyticConverters • A/C & Heaters • Complete BrakeService • Alternators&Starters Rides To Home & • Shocks&Struts • PerformanceExhaust • Tune-ups Work Available!
