Shinshu Ham Co., Ltd. Nichirei Fresh Inc. Tsusho Corporation

Shinshu Ham, Nichirei Fresh and to Start Processed Meat Products Sales Business in Vietnam - Delivering Japanese-style hams and sausages to dining tables of Vietnam -

Shinshu Ham Co., Ltd., (hereinafter referred to as “Shinshu Ham”; President: Yukio Nakamura), Nichirei Fresh Inc., (hereinafter referred to as “Nichirei Fresh”; President: Hisashi Hasegawa) and Toyota Tsusho Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “Toyota Tsusho”; President: Junzo Shimizu) will enter into a meat products sales business, handling such products as hams and sausages, in the domestic market of Vietnam. A meat processing and sales company, “Shinshu NT Co., Ltd.,” was established in December, 2010 and preparations are currently being made to launch local sales in late February, 2011.

Changes to the lifestyles of the citizens of Vietnam have occurred in recent years, due to a high economic growth potential. The amount of livestock meat consumption has been steadily increasing year after year, with the distribution environment improved through the emergence of supermarkets and an increased ownership ratio of refrigerators in urban areas. Under such circumstances, a decision was made to establish a new sales company, with the aim of pioneering into a new processed meat market by bringing in hams and sausages prepared in a Japanese style, targeting the middle income class to wealthy class of consumers whose purchasing power has increased in urban areas.

Shinshu Ham, with a proud ability to produce superior products in smaller lots, will be in charge of quality control and technical guidance, whereas the manufacturing work itself will be contracted to a processing meat manufacturer in the vicinity of Ho Chi Minh City, a location with a huge consumption. The “Shinshu” brand, has intentionally been given the Japanese kanji (Chinese derived) characters in order to bring to the forefront the trust for Japanese safety, reliability and high quality for the production and implementation of processed meat products (refrigerated products) in the domestic market of Vietnam.

Nichirei Fresh will provide support for sales and marketing, utilizing the company’s experience in the sale of livestock meat products in the domestic market of . Toyota Tsusho will be in charge of formulating overall strategies or business administration, based on the company’s business experience in Vietnam.

The three companies, Shinshu Ham, Nichirei Fresh and Toyota Tsusho, will utilize the wealth of the companies’ individual know-how and provide safety and reliability, based on Japanese quality in delivering fresh and tasty processed meat products, to contribute to the bounty of Vietnamese dinner tables.
