Thursday: Turkey, gravy, Shelby has been very busy lately sewing special gifts for mashed potatoes, her relatives and friends. If you look closely, you will see a Wol- stuffing, roll, verine blue apron, a fancy black polka-dotted pillow and a beau- cranberries, tiful bear pillow, each of which will make someone’s holiday & pumpkin pie extra special. A lot of work was put into this by all of the fries, peas students who had to memorize biographical information and dress for the part. & peaches Joe Klodt, playing Mr. Mike Mean, was found not guilty of murdering Hannah’s daughter, Candy Kane, with a hammer. The prosecution did a great job asking questions, but the witnesses’ con- flicting testimonies caused the five-member jury to question Mr. Mean’s guilt. 10th Grade Children Books By: Charlie Pullis The sophomores in Mrs. Jibben’s class are writing, illustrating and making children’s books again this year. They have to be at least 16 pages long with pictures and text on every page. The books are completely handmade, with no computer graphics or type. Each student is required to give it to somebody for Christmas this year. There are a lot of farming and some themed ABC books this year like about animals, fish species or construction equipment. Some of the books are going to the elementary school or to family members. The 10th graders are having a fun time making these books and hope to bring joy to other kids. The children receiving these books will be very excited to get them! Weekly Senior Of The Week By: Gina Gilsdorf This week’s senior of the week is my friend Brittany Backer. Brittany is an active member in the school. She has been a part of basketball, track, FCCLA, show choir, the musicals and choir contest. She transferred here from Browns Valley her ninth grade year. The girls had a magnificent win over Ortonville Friday, December 12, with a score of 58-56. The girls had a tough loss against CTF on Saturday, December 13. They had a bad day and come up short. The Lidgerwood/Wyndmere was very close game but the girls ran out of energy at the end of the game. Good luck to the girls on the upcoming games and the rest of the season! Their next game is the LQPV tourna- ment over Christmas break where they play on December 27 and December 29. The sixteen-person Gymnastics team has been busy during the last few weeks with four meets. They have been doing well both as a team and in their personal events. They host Morris in Ortonville tomorrow on December 19, at 6 p.m. and then travel to Milbank on December 20. Girl Athlete of the Week By: Rachael Kellen Cheyenne Arndt is this week’s girl athlete. Cheyenne is #14 and plays in the post position. She is also a member of the track team. I was most looking forward to the game against Ortonville last Friday and we won by two!! What is your favorite sport . Basketball and Track Cheyenne’s Favorite Athlete: Maya Moore By: Sam Bauer Cheyenne's favorite athlete is Maya Moore. She plays in the WNBA for the Minne- apolis Lynx. She was selected as the first pick in the draft in 2011. She has two Olympic gold medals in basketball. The Lynx are one of the dominant forces in the WNBA and have won WNBA championships. Maya Moore has been named MVP of the league be- fore and that is one of the highest awards that you can receive. Maya Moore was born June 11, 1989, putting her at the young age of 25. Maya Moore excelled in her college days at the University of Connecticut. She has been an out- standing player ever since her high school days. Maya Moore has been improving ever since she started in the WNBA. she is an outstanding player and the Minnesota Lynx are lucky to have her on their team. Boys Sports Boys Sports Summary By: Hannah Breeggemann The boys basketball team has been doing well so far this season! They won their game against Campbell-Tintah-Fairmont on Friday, December 12, at home. They have three games on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Wahpeton at the NDSCS Blikre Activity Center. Tuesday’s game was against Hankinson. The boys played hard, but came up short. Wednes- day’s game was against Lidgerwood-Wyndmere. Thursday’s game will be against CTF. Good luck boys! The wrestling team has been off to a good, strong start! They had a match on Tuesday December 16 against West Central. They wrestled hard, but lost. They are looking forward to parents night in Wheaton this Thursday. Storm Hockey had games last Friday and Tuesday, December 16, both of which were losses. Good luck Kyle and the rest of the Storm in tonight’s game in Morris! Boy Athlete By: Dalton Nilson This week’s athlete of the week is Ryan Costello. Kevin Durant Ryan’s Favorite Athlete: Kevin Durant By: Sam Bauer Kevin Wayne Durant is a 6’9” small forward 240 pounder who plays for the Thunder. Kevin Du- rant was last years NBA MVP of the year which is one of the highest awards you can get. Kevin Durant has been one of the top scorers in the NBA for the past few years. He was a top prospect all through his high school and college career and played for the University of Texas for one year where he received a bunch of awards including being the first freshman to receive the Naismith college player of the year. He was the second overall pick in the NBA draft in 2007. he played his rookie season for the Seattle Supersonics.
