Since 2004 the chapter has given a total of 200 scholarships totaling $208,000 to deserving student-athletes. The Distinguished American Award was presented to James Staunton (right) The evening's guest speaker was 1998 Hall of Famer from USC Brad Budde. A who is the retiring commissioner of the California Interscholastic Federation unanimous All-American in 1979 as well as an Academic All-American, Budde Southern Section. Presenting the award is Rob Wigod, the current assistant claimed the Lombardi Trophy as the nation's No. 1 lineman. commissioner and who will replace Staunton on August 1st. The chapter gave out $37,000 in scholarships and to date has given nearly $700,000. At next year's 50th anniversary banquet, their goal is to distribute $50,000. The Greater Atlanta Chapter honored an outstanding group for their overall accomplishments on and off the field. Mark Sanders from Athens Academy received the top scholarship award of The event's guest speaker was Matt Stinchcomb. Stinchcomb was a two-time All $2,000 from Justin Gallagher of Gallagher Electric and chapter president American at the University of Georgia and was the 1998 recipient of the William Dennis Caniglia. V. Campbell Trophy. Introducing Stinchcomb is chapter president Dennis Caniglia. A unique feature of the chapter's awards program is the presentation of the Whitey Zimmerman Scholar-Student Manager Awards. Named for the long-time Atlanta Falcon equipment manager, the six women were recognized for their contributions to their school's football program and their overall academic record.
