Texas Tech Postgame Quotes Texas Tech vs. No. 3 Kansas – February 11, 2017 HEAD COACH CHRIS BEARD Opening statement … “I thought it was a great crowd. I really appreciate the students coming out today, and all of the season ticket holders. We have a lot of objectives this first year building the program, and certainly one of them is to create one of the best atmospheres in college basketball. Those of us that are from Tech and love Lubbock, like myself, understands that on these special days. We have one of the best home courts in basketball. We have got to get to the point where we have crowds like this every night and not just when we play Kansas. I just want to say thank you to everyone who came out and spent your own money to buy tickets to this game to support our team. The crowd made a real difference. I thought that the crowd, in the second half helped willed us back into the game. Thank you, Lubbock, for a great crowd. Sorry that we came up a little bit short. We hope that you will continue to give us a chance.” On the team’s toughness in the second half … “I thought in the second half, we competed. I think we outplayed Kansas. In this game, we probably outplayed them 28 to 30 minuets out of the 40, but that doesn’t matter. It’s all about the final scoreboard. I like our guys before tonight, and I still like them. We are getting better.

Sports X-Treme JUNE 8, 2010 LAFAYETTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, WASH. DC, 20015 VOL. 2, NO. 6 Lakers, Celtics Split First Two Games of NBA Playoffs by Isaac Frumkin, 4K After waiting since October, the NBA Finals have arrived. It’s the Boston Celtics against the Los Angeles Lakers. It could be like the 1980s again. In the regular season the Lakers went 57-25 and the Celtics were 50-32, while they both beat each other once. In the playofs both teams faced pretty strong competition. The Lakers played the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Utah Jazz, and then the Phoenix Suns. The Celtics played the Miami Heat, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and then the Orlando Magic. In the first game of the Finals the Lakers pulled away with a comfortable score, 126-89. With Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol providing the one-two punch and the rest of their team getting the job done, the Lakers were almost unbeatable. The Celts won’t take this loss easily though. Despite NBA.com Polls projecting that LA would win game 2, the Celtics beat the Lakers 103-94 making it the Celtics point guard, Rajon Lakers’ first home loss since they began their playof run. Ray Allen Rondo, was on fire in Game 2. had a Finals record of eight 3s. I think that Boston will win Game 3. With a lineup of stars including Kevin “K-G” Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo, the Celtics will make it an exciting series against Kobe and his Lakers. Basketball Hall of Fame Names Twenty Point Guards to Watch List for 2021 Bob Cousy Award Starting Five Fan Voting Presented by Dell Technologies to go Live on Friday, November 6 Springfield, Mass. (Nov. 2, 2020) — The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the 20 watch list candidates for the 2021 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award. Named after Class of 1971 Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic and Holy Cross guard Bob Cousy, the annual honor now in its eighteenth year recognizes the top point guards in Division I men’s college basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates. “Since 2004, the Hall of Fame has had the honor of bestowing the Bob Cousy Award on the best point guards in the collegiate game,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. “The list is comprised of many outstanding student-athletes and we know the fans are very excited to see them take the floor. Starting Five Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies will allow fans to support their favorite players throughout the season and eventually play a part in helping us to select our winner. We greatly appreciate the support of Dell Technologies, the fans, our selection committee and the namesake of the award, Mr. Bob Cousy.” Bob Cousy played for Holy Cross from 1946-1950 winning an NCAA Championship in 1947.
