Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada Adds Ontario Open to Schedule Mackenzie Tour and Golf Ontario to Hold Event August 24-30 A FOR RELEASE: December -. 2019 CONTACT: Brendan Stasiewich, Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada, 403-512-4625 [email protected] Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada adds Ontario Open to schedule Mackenzie Tour and Golf Ontario to hold event August 24-30 at Woodington Lake Golf Club TORONTO, ONT – The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada and Golf Ontario have reached an agreement, in partnership with Woodington Lake Golf Club, that will see the Ontario Open played in Tottenham, ON starting in 2020 from August 24-30. Debuting in 1923, the Ontario Open’s past champions include: Sam Snead and Moe Norman, along with Canadian golf legends George Knudson and seven-time champion Nick Weslock. Following a 23-year hiatus, the event returned for its 63rd edition in 2019 and was won by Greg Eason, who finished fifth on the Mackenzie Tour in 2014 and has played 31 career events on the Tour. “The Ontario Open has a rich history in Canada, and the Mackenzie Tour is thrilled at the opportunity to be involved with such a storied event,” said Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada Vice President Scott Pritchard. “We’re looking forward to working alongside Golf Ontario and the team at Woodington Lake, to deliver a world class tournament.” Mike Kelly, who was named Golf Ontario’s Executive Director in 2015, played a large part in revitalizing the Ontario Open and says he is looking forward to adding to the legacy of the event with the Mackenzie Tour’s involvement. “The Ontario Open is steeped in tradition and history and has a long list of distinguished winners. We were thrilled to bring back the Ontario Open in 2019 to Woodington Lake Golf Club and equally thrilled with the success of the event. To now join forces and take the event to the next level with The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada is an exciting time for Golf Ontario and we believe this will be one of the marquee events on tour next year”. The 156-player event will be played on the Legend Course at Woodington Lakes Golf Club, a 36-hole facility just North of Toronto. Measuring out at over 7,000 yards, the Legend Course opened in 1995 and is built on over 200 acres of rolling terrain. John Chetti, General Manager of Woodington Lake Golf Club says that the facility is absolutely thrilled to be hosting such a world class event: ”Woodington Lake is truly a special piece of property located just north of Toronto, and The Ontario Open was a huge success in 2019. Our Legend course is a great test of golf and having some of the best golfers in the world tackle it as part of The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada is special for all 2 of us at Woodington Lake and we look forward to hosting an extraordinary event”, said John. Craig Loughry, Golf Ontario’s Tournament Chair, will serve as Tournament Director of the event. Smith bogeyed three of his first five holes and found himself in a temporary tie for the lead at the turn. He moved back into the lead for good after a birdie at the par‐5 11th hole. Nursing a one‐stroke lead over Frost down the stretch, Smith hit his second shot into the bunker by the green at the par‐5 16th and then holed the shot for an eagle to increase his lead to three strokes.

I learned the game basically on my own in late childhood and carried on with it into my late teens. I have had three lessons in my life. The first was a group lesson on holding and swinging the club, along with the basic rules of golf and etiquette from Bill Kozak when I was 12 years of age.

Trenham 1960 to 1969 1960 Al Besselink won the Section Championship and Skee Riegel won the Philadelphia Open. 1961 Gary Player won the Masters Tournament playing out of the Langhorne Country Club. 1962 Forty-four year old Henry Williams, Jr. won the Jamaica Open and Aronimink GC hosted the PGA Championship. 1963 The PGA Tour returned to the Section and played for the largest purse in the history of the PGA Tour. 1964 Art Wall won at San Diego, Al Besselink won the Azalea Open and Mike Souchak won at Houston and Memphis. 1965 Al Besselink won two Caracas Opens and Art Wall won his 4th Section Championship and the Maracaibo Open. 1966 Bert Yancey won at Wilmington, Memphis and Portland. 1967 Bob Ross won the Section Championship, the Pennsylvania Open and the DeBaufre Trophy. 1968 The Section rented office space. Leo Fraser elected PGA president. Bert Yancey 3rd in the Masters & U.S. Open 1969 Al Besselink won the Section Championship and the Prior Golf Festival. 1960 When the New Year began the Philadelphia Section had a new member on the PGA Tour. Jon Gustin was playing out of the Philadelphia Country Club. The Country Club’s professional Loma Frakes and two of the mem- bers backed him on the tour financially for four years. His ball striking abil- ity was legendary. He was one of the few players that Ben Hogan would pause to watch hit balls on the practice tee. While serving in the marines Gustin was in President Eisenhower’s Color Guard at the White House.
