8th to 9th grade bridge

Dear Parent/Guardians: We are extremely excited to again offer our Summer Bridge program for our incoming 9th graders. This three-day program is available to all stu- dents who will be 9th graders at Tyee High School in September.

The Summer Bridge program is designed to support students in making a smooth transition from middle school to high school both socially and aca- demically. While some students are prepared to meet the rigors of high school, research shows that many incoming freshmen are not. Did you know that more students fail 9th grade than any other grade level? It is al- so clear that if a student falls behind in the 9th grade, they are less likely to complete high school. We at Tyee are committed to student success and believe that a solid freshman foundation will ultimately lead to academic and personal success throughout high school and beyond.

During the Summer Bridge program we will: Provide students helpful and positive study skills and work habits Introduce students to their teachers, counselor, and administrators Help students to build community with their peers Engage in fun activities

Summer Bridge will be held at Tyee High School, August 25-27, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Students will be provided breakfast and lunch. Please note there will not be a school nurse on campus during this time. In case of a health related emergency, staff will be directed to call 9-1-1. If any health conditions exist that require medication or treatment please specify on the registration form. To register visit https://tinyurl.com/TyeeBridge21. We look forward to meeting and getting to know your child and getting them off to a successful start at Tyee High School.

Sincerely,
