This list is only updated following each of the Accreditation Commission’s three annual meetings. A searchable version of this list and other information about the AAM Museum Accreditation Program, including statistics about accredited museums, is available at www.aam-us.org/accred. Museums not on this list are not currently accredited by the AAM; information regarding a non-accredited museum’s past or current application or participation in the Accreditation Program, including if/when it was previously accredited, is not disclosed by the AAM. • = Institutions also accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) AAM Accreditation Commission The Accreditation Commission is an independent and autonomous body, designated by the AAM Bylaws that is responsible for the ongoing administration of the Alliance’s accreditation program and for rendering all decisions regarding accredited status. The Commissioners are individuals who have experience and expertise in all areas of museum management and operation and represent the spectrum of the museum field. Funded by the Luce Foundation, the position offers an exciting opportunity for the Curator to work with the Museum’s renowned collection of Native art of North America. Overview The Montclair Art Museum (MAM) is currently accepting applications for a three- year, grant funded position of Curator of Native American Art. The Museum’s goal is to engage in further fundraising to establish this position as permanent. The selected hire will have a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the presentation of MAM’s renowned collection of Native art of North America in its dedicated Rand Gallery and throughout the Museum more broadly. The Curator will work to achieve key goals of engaging current, innovative ideas around the representation of Indigenous communities and art museum collections and exhibitions, via collaborative approaches. Throughout the three- year period, the Curator will have access to an eight member Advisory Board of leading Native and non-Native scholars and artists, as well as MAM’s Chief Curator, all of whom will offer ideas and perspectives for consideration in developing the Museum’s Native American programs. The Curator will oversee the presentation of the Fall 2021 incoming traveling exhibition, Color Riot!, from the Heard Museum, featuring Navajo textiles from c. 1860 to 2018. Additional projects will include curating a site-specific artistic intervention opening in early 2022, and will culminate in September 2023 with a new installation of the Museum’s Native American collections in the Rand Gallery.

    CONNECTING TO COLLECTIONS PENNSYLVANIA a five-year preservation plan for Pennsylvania PROJECT OVERVIEW Imagining Our Future: Preserving Pennsylvania’s Collections, published in August 2009, includes an in-depth analysis of conditions and needs at Pennsylvania’s collecting institutions, a detailed preservation plan to improve collections care throughout the state, and a five-year implementation timetable (2010-2015). The analysis concludes that many of Pennsylvania’s most important historic holdings must be considered at risk. Millions of items comprise these collections, and the financial resources available to care for them are limited and shrinking. Pennsylvania is a state vibrant with world-class art museums, libraries, historic sites. Arts and culture play a substantial role in creating business, jobs, and bringing revenue into the state and stewardship of its artifacts is too important —to the state, to the people, to the history of country—to be ignored. This call to action is a rallying cry for all future generations of Pennsylvanians. With generous support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and in close partnership with three leading preservation organizations, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC), the Pennsylvania Federation of Museums and Historical Organizations (PFMHO), and LYRASIS, the Conservation Center for Arts & Historic Artifacts organized and led the assessment and planning process. The project was capably guided by a Task Force with representatives from the Office of (PA) Commonwealth Libraries, the Western Pennsylvania Museum Council, the Pennsylvania Caucus of the Mid- Atlantic Regional Archives Conference, Pennsylvania State University, the Philadelphia Area Consortium of Special Collections Libraries, the University of Pittsburgh, and Carnegie Mellon University.
