2010 ANNUAL REPORT NORTHEAST REGION 2010 Annual Report Northeast Region Boy Scouts of America 2 Dear Friends and Scouters, The year 2010 was a remarkable and exciting one in the Northeast Region. Among the many achievements in this final year of the Centennial Quality recognition, 41 of our 67 councils reached this milestone and three councils achieved Distinguished Learning for Life recognition. In addition, six of our seven areas were Quality Areas, and we’re pleased to say that because of all of these great efforts, the Northeast Region achieved Quality Region. In 2010 we saw improvements in membership growth over 2009, and the fiscal health of a majority of our councils is stronger. The New BSA and greater volunteer empowerment have generated renewed energy in our region, and the new Journey to Excellence program has been greeted with great enthusiasm. We are grateful for your support of our 67 councils as Scouting builds our future leadership. We hope you’ll share this report with others in your home council. Sincerely, Robert J. Smith Peter P.
