Leicester City FC will look to build on their UEFA Champions League debut win in Bruges when they welcome FC Porto on matchday two. • It is the English champions' first encounter with Portuguese opposition but for Porto, by contrast, it is their 17th trip to England – and they are still seeking a first competitive victory on English soil. Match background Leicester • Leicester are the early Group G leaders after their 3-0 victory at Club Brugge KV. • This is not just Leicester's first UEFA Champions League home fixture but their first European game at their current home stadium, to which they moved in 2002. • They last hosted continental visitors when drawing 1-1 with FK Crvena zvezda in the first round of the 2000/01 UEFA Cup in September 2000. • Leicester's overall European record at their former home of Filbert Street was P4 W1 D2 L1. Porto • Porto will try again for a first victory in Group G after their 1-1 opening home draw with FC København. • Porto have lost – and failed to score – on each of their last four visits to England, including a 2-0 reverse at Chelsea FC in last season's group stage, which featured an Iván Marcano own goal. • Their overall record away to English clubs is W0 D2 L14. Coach and player links • 's Valencia CF side won the 2004 UEFA Super Cup against a Porto team containing Nuno Espírito Santo as reserve goalkeeper. • As ACF Fiorentina coach, Ranieri oversaw a 2-1 aggregate win over SL Benfica in the 1996/97 European Cup Winners' Cup quarter-finals (2-0 a, 0-1 h). With Parma FC he suffered 1-0 away and home losses to SC Braga in the 2006/07 UEFA Cup round of 32. • Nuno was a half-time substitute in RC Deportivo La Coruña's 3-2 win at Manchester United FC in the UEFA Champions League first group stage in October 2001. He later played in Porto's 2-1 home victory over Chelsea in the 2004/05 group stage. • For Sporting Clube de Portugal, Islam Slimani put four goals past Porto and Iker Casillas last season – two in a 2-0 home victory on 2 January, and two in a 3-1 away success on 30 April. He had hit the only goal in Sporting's home league win over Porto in March 2014, and scored again in a 2-1 Sporting win in August – his final appearance for the club. • Leonardo Ulloa scored past Casillas for UD Almería in a 1-1 home Liga draw against Real Madrid CF in January 2011. Christian Fuchs did the same with FC Schalke 04 in a 4-3 victory at Madrid in the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League round of 16. • Casillas played at Leicester's stadium as a half-time substitute in a 2-1 friendly win for Real Madrid over the Foxes in July 2011. He conceded a late goal to Lloyd Dyer. • Kasper Schmeichel was in the youth ranks of Estoril Praia during his father Peter's time playing for Sporting (1999– 2001). • Ahmed Musa scored for PFC CSKA Moskva in a 3-1 UEFA Champions League play-off home win over Sporting in 2015/16. • Adrián López came off the bench to score in Villarreal CF's 1-0 first-leg win over Liverpool FC in last term's UEFA Europa League semi-final. López scored also at Chelsea in a 3-1 UEFA Champions League semi-final success with Atlético in 2013/14. • López scored past Ron-Robert Zieler in Club Atlético de Madrid's 2-1 victory at the German goalkeeper's Hannover 96 side in the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League quarter-finals. • Miguel Layún (Watford FC 2015) and João Carlos (Liverpool 2011–16, Brentford FC 2013 and Brighton & Hove Albion FC 2014/15) both had spells in English football. • International team-mates: Islam Slimani, Riyad Mahrez & Yacine Brahimi (Algeria)

9 Leicester City FC - FC Porto Tuesday 27 September 2016 - 20.45CET (19.45 local time) Match press kit Leicester City Stadium, Leicester Head coach Claudio Ranieri Date of birth: 20 October 1951 Nationality: Italian Playing career: AS Roma, US Catanzaro, Calcio Catania, US Città di Palermo Coaching career: Vigor Lamezia Calcio, Campania Puteolana, Cagliari Calcio, SSC Napoli, ACF Fiorentina, Valencia CF (twice), Club Atlético de Madrid, Chelsea FC, Parma FC, Juventus, AS Roma, FC Internazionale Milano, AS FC, Greece, Leicester City FC • Ranieri played just six Serie A games for hometown club Roma before moving south to spend the remainder of his playing career with Catanzaro, Palermo and Catania. • Coached several lower-league teams before making his name with Cagliari, leading the Sardinian club from Serie C1 to Serie A between 1989 and 1991. Moved to Napoli, guiding the club to fourth place in the top flight in 1991/92 only to be sacked the following season. • Earned promotion to Serie A in his first season as Fiorentina coach, and won the Coppa Italia in 1996 before heading abroad. Won the Copa del Rey with Valencia in 1999 and then coached Atlético and Chelsea, whom he led to a second-place Premier League finish and the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2003/04. • Replaced by José Mourinho, a brief, unsuccessful, spell back at Valencia – the highlight a UEFA Super Cup win against FC Porto – followed before Ranieri rediscovered his touch in saving Parma from relegation in 2007. That led to a stint at Juventus, who dismissed him in May 2009. Ranieri rejoined his first club, Roma, four months later, leading the club to second place in Serie A in his first season before leaving in February 2011 only to return to coaching seven months later, signing a two-year contract with Inter. • Left Inter in March 2012 and then had two seasons with Monaco – guiding them back to Ligue 1 and then to second spot in the top flight – before succeeding Fernando Santos at the Greece helm after the 2014 FIFA World Cup. His short spell in charge proved unsuccessful but Ranieri was still appointed by Leicester in summer 2015 and, remarkably, led the 5,000-1 outsiders to a stunning Premier League title win in his debut season – Ranieri's first league championship. Nuno Espírito Santo Date of birth: 25 January 1974 Nationality: Portuguese Playing career: Vitória SC, SC Vila Real, RC Deportivo La Coruña, CP Mérida, CA Osasuna, FC Porto (twice), FC Dinamo Moskva, CD Aves Coaching career: Rio Ave FC, Valencia CF, FC Porto • A journeyman goalkeeper as a player, Nuno made his professional debut with Guimarães side Vitória before moving across the frontier from Portugal to Spain to join Deportivo in 1997. • He also played for Spanish sides Mérida and Osasuna, as well as Dinamo Moskva in Russia, but experienced his greatest success in two spells with Porto, where he won four Liga titles and three Portuguese Cups; was an unused substitute during the Dragons' 2003 UEFA Cup and 2004 UEFA Champions League final victories. • After completing his coaching qualifications in Scotland – like compatriot and former boss José Mourinho – Nuno cut his teeth with Portuguese outfit Rio Ave. He inspired the modest club to a highest ever sixth-place Liga finish in his first season and the following year led them to two cup finals for the first time in their history, as well as earning the side a maiden UEFA Europa League berth. • Those feats earned Nuno the top job at Valencia in July 2014, and he propelled the Mestalla outfit to fourth place during his first campaign, thus securing their UEFA Champions League return after a two-season absence. • Nuno is renowned for his exciting brand of intense, rapid counterattacking football, and has also developed a reputation for putting his faith in fresh, young talents. He resigned from his Valencia post in November 2015 but was not out of work for long, joining Porto the following June.
