How this Travel or Training Benefited the Citizens of Broomfield: Since 2017, I have served as a Council appointed representative to the US 36 Mayors and Commissioners Coalition. In achieving our goals of advocating for multi-modal transportation investments in the northwest metro region, a group of mayors, commissioners, staff members and others including Commuting Solutions traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with Senators and as wells as Representatives , , , , Diana DeGette. In addition to meeting with our elected officials, we also met with the staff members for the Senate Commerce Rail Subcommittee, House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Senate Environmental and Public Works Committee, and US Department of Transportation. With each of these groups, we shared the successes of the US 36 improvements including the Flatiron Flyer Bus Rapid Transit service, the US 36 Bikeway, and the decreased traffic and commute hours (as compared to pre-construction to current). We also shared with them the request for federal funds to support SH 119 multimodal corridor funding which would include Bus Rapid Transit, managed lanes, and Bikeway. We also stressed the need to support upcoming projects on SH 7 multimodal improvements and the completion of the Northwest Rail. We discussed these projects could be assisted with Federal funds in the form of Congressionally Directed Spending (earmarks), support letters attached to our BUILD application or CRISI grants.
