We measured gases (CO, CO2, NO, and NO2) and particles (black carbon, particle-bound aromatic hydrocarbons, fine particulate matter fi (PM2.5), and ultra ne particles (reported using particle number concentrations (PNC) as a proxy)) continuously for 1 month at a residence near the Logan International Airport, Boston. The residence was located under a flight trajectory of the most utilized runway configuration. We found that when the residence was downwind of the airport, the concentrations of all gaseous and particulate pollutants (except PM2.5) were 1.1- to 4.8-fold higher than when the residence was not downwind of the airport. Controlling for runway usage and meteorology, the impacts were highest during overhead landing operations: average PNC was 7.5-fold higher from overhead landings versus takeoffs on the closest runway. Infiltration of aviation-origin emissions resulted in indoor PNC that were comparable to ambient concentrations measured locally on roadways and near highways. In addition, ambient NO2 concentrations at the residence exceeded those measured at regulatory monitoring sites in the area including near-road monitors. Our results highlight the need for further characterization of outdoor and indoor impacts of aviation emissions at the neighborhood scale to more accurately estimate residential exposures. -

Y9 MUSIC Term 2 KO
Music Year 9 Spring Term Listening Describing Music/Music Theory/Music History The Beatles The Beatles were the most successful and innovative band of the 1960s. Their early albums were influenced by rock ‘n’ roll and country styles, and they had very successful record sales and films. The band began in school in Liverpool. They had great early success when touring in Europe and this is where they learnt their skills as a live band. They gradually became disillusioned with the level of noise from screaming fans at live shows so decided to only work in the studio The Band From top left clockwise. John Lennon – guitar /vocals/ songwriting Paul McCartney – bass guitar/vocals/songwriting George Harrison – lead guitar Ringo Starr – drums Their Producer - George Martin Their manager – Brian Epstein Music Technology Music Technology Much of their music was recorded at Abbey Road studios. Tracks were recorded on a four track tape machine. The Beatles experimented with recording techniques, including slowing down and speeding up tape during recording and adding studio effects such as delay/echo and reverb. Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band This album was recorded at Abbey Road in 1967. It is a concept album, as there is a theme which links all the songs together – the fictional band in the title. The artwork for the album is amazing and was created by Peter Blake. Songs on the album include ‘With a Little Help from My Friends’ and ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’ Time signature Some of the songs on the album change time signature part way through. -
We Can Work It out / You Can't Always Get What You Want
We Can Work It Out / You Can’t Always Get What You Want Kluwer Mediation Blog June 24, 2019 Greg Bond (Bond & Bond Mediation / University of Wildau ) Please refer to this post as: Greg Bond, ‘We Can Work It Out / You Can’t Always Get What You Want’, Kluwer Mediation Blog, June 24 2019, http://mediationblog.kluwerarbitration.com/2019/06/24/we-can-work-it-out-you-cant-always-get-what-you-wan t/ I learned two foreign languages back in school, and there is a reason why my German was always going to be better than my French. I blame The Beatles. In my last blog I promised I would write about the Beatles and the Rolling Stones (and not Brexit). I will keep the promise. In French lessons I always sat next to my friend Richard, and as we thought that the lessons were less than inspiring, or just because we could, we spent class after class discussing The Beatles, and occasionally comparing them to The Rolling Stones. An old debate that we gave new life to, in our adolescence. As a result, my French was always never going to be more than ok. In retrospect I have felt sorry for our teacher, Mr. Green, who was unable to put a stop to our chatter. The Beatles, arguably the pop / rock band with the greatest cultural significance ever, split up acrimoniously in 1970. I do not know whether they tried to resolve matters amicably, perhaps with third-party help. If time travel were an option, I would love to fly back and have a go at mediating with them. -

Brother Leo Bio Where Does Ola End and Brother Leo Begin? “It's A
Brother Leo Bio Where does Ola end and Brother Leo begin? “It's a question that's been rattling around in the constantly whirring mind of the Grammy nominated Swedish artist for a while, and like all good pop mysteries, may never be solved. “Brother Leo means freedom. The name comes from a reoccurring dream I had as a kid. In the dream I had a twin brother, he was a free spirit, brave, confident and always had the answers to everything. He had superpowers and his name was Leo”. A highly respected songwriter and producer in his own right, Ola Svensson has been reborn, ready to take on the world with an impressive array of songs and emotions, as Brother Leo. “The whole idea behind creating the alias was to provide an honest and creative place that forced me outside of my comfort zone. As Brother Leo I’m able to challenge and push myself as a artist and songwriter. In a way, I can be more me”. Fuelled by his winding musical journey so far, and spurred on to dig deeper into his creative expression, Ola, channelling Brother Leo, has crafted a suite of songs that are unafraid to alchemise his emotions and experiences into bold, unabashed pop anthems. These are songs for the masses, communicating universal emotions. Be they playful like the sleek ode to love, Naked, or be they heartbreaking like the redemptive hymn, Hallelujah, or the zeitgeist critical new single, Strangers on an Island; a gold-plated banger produced by British dance music legend Fatboy Slim. -

Beatles Cover Albums During the Beatle Period
Beatles Cover Albums during the Beatle Period As a companion to the Hollyridge Strings page, this page proposes to be a listing of (and commentary on) certain albums that were released in the United States between 1964 and April 1970. Every album in this listing has a title that indicates Beatles-related content and/or a cover that is a parody of a Beatles cover. In addition, the content of every album listed here is at least 50% Beatles-related (or, in the case of albums from 1964, "British"). Albums that are not included here include, for example, records named after a single Beatles song but which contain only a few Beatles songs: for example, Hey Jude, Hey Bing!, by Bing Crosby. 1964: Nineteen-sixty-four saw the first wave of Beatles cover albums. The earliest of these were released before the release of "Can't Buy Me Love." They tended to be quickly-recorded records designed to capitalize rapidly on the group's expanding success. Therefore, most of these albums are on small record labels, and the records themselves tended to be loaded with "filler." Possibly, the companies were not aware of the majority of Beatle product. Beattle Mash The Liverpool Kids Palace M-777 Side One Side Two 1. She Loves You 1. Thrill Me Baby 2. Why Don't You Set Me Free 2. I'm Lost Without You 3. Let Me Tell You 3. You Are the One 4. Take a Chance 4. Pea Jacket Hop 5. Swinging Papa 5. Japanese Beatles 6. Lookout for Charlie The label not only spells "Beatle" correctly but also lists the artist as "The Schoolboys." The liner notes show that this album was released before the Beatles' trip to America in February, 1964. -

Hundreds Baptized in Venezuela Vantage Point
August 2013 SOUTHERN Hundreds Baptized in Venezuela Vantage Point Think Big of God! In the presence of physical and emotional challenges, many have come to know that the most important thing in life is to think rightly about God. The character of people and nations is determined by the kind of god they wor- ship. It is a common saying among us that it does not matter what we believe as long as we do right. It is impossible finally to do right on wrong beliefs. The ancient Jews of Scripture had a high conception of God. To them He was the Holy One, the Creator, the Sustainer, the Judge. Their concept of God was responsible for their high standards of moral and ethical living. Contrast that with the gods of the Romans. Their gods were superhuman: Mars and Jupiter and Mercury. These were gods of might, and because Rome worshiped these gods, there was little respect for human personality. War and aggression came easily. The worship of these gods sent the Romans to conquer the world. Actions are always colored by be- liefs. In our own land, from the beginning, we have given our allegiance to God. This has made progress possible and has brought about the most democratic standard of living in the world. We are slipping away from that belief. God, to many of us, has be- come a Santa Claus, a cosmic bellhop to supply every American wish. We have substi- tuted the gods of things and sex and pleasure for the one true God, and faith in these Ron C.
