Open Your Heart to the Mercy and Healing of God.

Say to those whose hearts are frightened: “Be strong, fear not! Here is your God, he comes with vindication; with divine recompense he comes to save you.” (Isaiah 35: 4)

The Prophet Isaiah is famous for his comforting and consoling words. He is the spiritual doctor of the Old Testament.

Jesus Christ comes to us today with miracles of consolation to raise us up out of our sadness. He asks: “What do you want from me today? How can I help you, as your Lord? What special miracle do you need?”

Does your heart need to be opened? Is there a hardness or a deafness in your soul that Jesus needs to touch and soften?

What in your life needs to hear: “Ephphatha!” — “Be opened!” What dark, silent place needs to hear these words?

We all have a longing for God. Today, ask Jesus to work whatever miracle – great or small – you personally need.

He will come to save you from all that harms you. He helps us to hear, to understand and to know God more deeply.

“Don’t tell God how great your problems are… tell your problems how great God is!”

May God richly bless each and every one of you this week… and always.

Fr. Kilian McCaffrey

Happy Hour Book/Video Discussion “Saying Yes” Discovering and Responding to God’s Will in your Life

By Albert Haase, OFM Starts Monday, September 10th 3:00 to 4:30 PM in Guadalupe Room This discussion series has 6 sessions to it and will run for 6 consecutive weeks. In his book and companion videos Albert Haase, OFM, has provided a blueprint and roadmap for discovering all the places, all the spaces, and all the faces through which God speaks to us. Discerning God’s will is an ongoing process—not a static, one time decision. What is God asking of me? How do I know if this is really God and not simply my imagination? Should I follow my head or my heart? Haase offers a faithful and faith filled reflection on both the simplicity and the complexity of Christian discernment and discipleship. Albert Hasse is a scholar of Christian spirituality and is a spiritual mentor of hundreds of people, is known for his clear, practical spiritual advice. He is a popular mission speaker, teacher, spiritual director and radio show guest and author of nine books. You loved the last discussion we had on one of his books and he has only gotten better!

The book Saying Yes is $10 and is available in the parish office for purchase.
